so these were changed under a gesture of goodwill approx a month ago and ever since then I have noticed a faint smell of burning oil since the change....Ive left it this long to inform audi as I thought it could just be some residual oil burning off but Ive done over 1000 miles since then so can t see how this is a possibility now

Ive had a look under the car and parallel to the exhaust there seems to be some kind of damp patch...Its quite glupy so whatever it is I dont think it is fresh but as it is so close to the exhaust them maybe this is actually some clue? In addition, there is no sign of anything obvious leaking onto the floor and my car is pretty much stationary in the week so Im sure I would have noticed something if it were say another oil leak from somewhere else

ANy ideas...gasket covers or anything else anyone can think of?

are you loosing oil? have you taken it to audito check connections?

Just taken mine in for it's annual service and MOT, only for the indi to discover the oil cooler pipes were badly corroded and (of course) the oil cooler broke when they tried to remove the pipes.

So it's my turn for this big bill now - still they have lasted 7 years and 62K miles.

Sounds like the tech has nicked an o-ring on one of the cooler pipes when pushing them in.
I would remove and inspect (or get them to) before it gets worse.....
You can pick up a pair of orings easily and cheap. Just dont make their mistake and make sure you grease them
