Will 265/30/19 rub?

Post by Shoppinit » Sun Jun 09, 2013 5:52 pm

I don't think there's an issue with clearance on the RS4 (is there?) so will the extra width cause a problem?

This'll be for some track day tyres.

Anyone have any experience of Toyo R888 or similar?

I have been running this tyre for 3 years with 10 and 8mm spacers (front and rear) with no rubbing issues at all..only on the road though so not under the same load as going round a track.you should be well ok..imo

That size tyre makes the diamater 19mm smaller than standard so although you are making it stick out by 5mm (theoretically a 10mm width diference should equate to 5mm on the inside and 5mm on the outside) it is sitting much lower than before giving you more clearance. Much like when you lower a car you can create rubbing issues, what you are doing is kinda the oppsote and creating more clearance.

^Good info, thanks.

I'm struggling to find a tyre that has a load rating even close to 96 for the 265/30/19, though. :(

How important is the load rating? 96 equates to 710Kg, 93, which the R888 are, is 650Kg.

How is the load rating worked out? Is it static weight or what? There's surprisingly little info on the internet.

I switched to 275/30ZR19 PSS's and feel they are the perfect fit for our cars with absolutely no rubbing. Car is lowered on H&R springs and has 8mm H&R wheel spacers in the picture.

Cool. Did you try them without the spacers at any point?
