Strong petrol smell

After the car has been running, I get a real strong smell of petrol from the engine no sign of leaks that I can see of, I can smell it when I'm sitting in traffic to is this normal or does anyone know what this could be thanks again chaps

How long has the car been running? After 20 mins? Or longer....

Usually about 20 mins but if its been on a long drive and I stop you can really smell it

I'd try and get it on a garage ramp ASAP; not worth the risk driving it too much!

Not sure if the rs4 has a carbon filter to trap tank vapour - could be that.
Injector o-ring too.
Sometimes leak can be hard to find as petrol evaporates soo quickly.

We think its coming from o ring injectors gotta take manifold off first to get to them. Should be fun

That's a slag Marc, shame your not nearer to my mechanic, he would have saved you a few quid, guess the main thing is that it gets sorted, you don't want petrol leaking round a hot engine that's for sure

Found out this strong petrol smell was coming from a hairline split in the fuel rail under the inlet manifold big thanks to dan mms technik
And saved me a few quid wonderd why it was costing me a fortune to drive anywhere
