Hooray for stealers

Not something I thought I would say, but I've just had the pads changed on my ceramic front brakes and Bristol Audi quoted me £395 including VAT for the whole job. Not bad I thought, but when I got the desk at the end to pay, it turns out that this was their cost price just for the parts, let alone labour!

Fair enough though they honoured the original quote without me even having to ask. So if you are in the area and have ceramics that might need changing soon, get cracking before they change their system

I'd buy a lottery ticket quickly if I was you!

Just out of curiosity, how many miles did you get out of your pads?

Just checked the receipt and it doesn't say, but looking at other receipts from the same time, it looks like they have lasted about 30,000 miles

Fair play, any idea what the full cost would have been?

Funnily enough they weren't too keen to tell me how much money they had lost out on. I reckon the book time for the job would be 1.5 hours (it took them longer as they all had a good gawp at the ceramics!) so maybe adding 20% margin on parts and £120 per hour for the labour it should have come in closer to £700. Not sure if those labour rates and margins are in the right ballpark though

Audi labor rate is around £120 per hour plus VAT.

Nice result for you though

Have to give Swindon Audi credit too.

Had a brake light bulb go at the weekend while staying with the in-laws, and they fitted a new one FOC.

Other end of the spectrum I know, but was a nice surprise considering I was expecting to pay an inflated price for the bulb and then get soaked trying to fit it in the pouring rain.
