Health check at mrc 309bhp vac issues and decoke

Car is at mrc went in for decoke and stage 2 mapping with stage 1 manifold
1 st run on the dyno made 309 ps and 423nm has vac issues and in need of a decoke so when I get it back its should be a different car :biggrin3:

Wow - that's gonna feel great when you get it back - I am thinking about MRC work as well - so would be good to see the results. Don't forget to list the full car spec!

CAI is well worthwhile if you can stretch to it at same time,you should be north of 400 when you get it back keep us posted.

309 at the wheels or at the flywheel?

torque is ~312 lb ft which is essentially the rated (317)

if at the wheels, BIG vaccum issue

Flywheel, it's only you lot across the pond that do the 'at the wheels' rubbish.

technically its at the fly figures that are "rubbish" as you put it! when a car is put on a rolling road, the rollers which the wheels are driving is what gives the power figure, hence a AT THE WHEEL figure is acutally what power you are putting down on the road.

the AT THE FLY figure which everyone seems to get a boner about is a "guestimate" the rolling road operator has a "transmission loss" figure, that they input in to the computer to give a "at the fly" figure... the only way to get a true "at the fly" reading is to remove the engine and put it on an engine dyno where it will measure the power from the flywheel!

so if anything your comment is "rubbish".

I know the difference between wheel/crank outputs, and how the dyno works out crank power. However, as manufactures don’t issue WHP figures, they mean feck all to me; wheel horsepower is a bit too geeky/techy for me. My comment wasn’t intended to be rude by the way, maybe I should have used a smiley or two.

actually converting to flywheel is 'rubbish'
no way to know driveline losses without measuring them, too many variables: wheel slip, tire pressure, etc.
and the value is made even less credible unless the conversion factor is shared

the only way to know flywheel is to pull the engine and put it on a true engine dynomometer
anything else is a wag
