Terraclean for rs4?

Post by RichT128 » Sat May 04, 2013 12:14 pm

Has anyone looked at having a terraclean done on an rs4 as a decoke?

Wheeler dealers showed it on an xk8 and looks interesting (seems to cost about £80) but wondered how it compares to getting the engine decoked in the more traditional ways/ whether anyone has results. Video link for the xk8 below

My car is going into Star Performance to have this work done next week. The car is completely standard and is having no other work carried out so it will be interesting to see if the Terraclean actually works. Jim will be doing a dyno run before and after for reference.

The car has done 113,000 so there should be plenty of carbon build-up to clean.

Worth doing a search on here. The prescribed wisdom seems that it's entirely useless on the RS4 as it is direct injection, so the inlet valves won't get touched.

Nowt or not very much as they are using the old red bus as a test to see if the equipment works. If it works then great, but if not at least I have a couple of dyno runs to see how the engine is performing.

Terraclean can be used on the RS4 but they need a specific tool for direct injection cars.

I believe it's on the website

Well im keeping my options open, we'll see once Coffey gets it done in Fife, its a bucket cheaper and quicker than a few days at Rev or MRC.

The terraclean dealer in leeds certainly didn't know their arse from their kneecap (or was it elbow). Basically, they need to break in to the fuel supply so the terraclean machine can fuel the engine and stop the fuel pump from working while the ignition is on. They couldn't work out how to do it and apparently it's just a relay that needs unplugging.

I did hear they had invented something specifically for DI engines but I gave up on the whole thing tbh, smacked of "wonder cure" and if their franchisees are *that* bad it speaks pretty poorly on the quality of the whole operation imv. I think water meth is the way to go to keep em clean.

I've had a terraclean carried out and to be honnest I didn't notice a difference! Only had 1 can run through the car and have been told it may need another. Maybe worth giving it a go due to the cost, but I don't think there is any way to beat the old school way of getting your hands dirty or paying a garage to do it.

I've emailed direct in the past and a few days ago through FB specifically asking about our FSI engine but no response yet....maybe their silence speaks volumes.

Well they have come back via FB and have said they have fed this question out to a private forum of TerraClean operators - hopefully we will get an official answer soon... :|
