FBSW retrofit and Sport button

Post by maars » Sun Apr 28, 2013 11:37 pm

I'm on the hunt for an RS4 Avant, and a few I've seen have the basic steering wheel rather than the flat-bottomed wheel. Is it possible to retrofit this, and if so how easy is it to activate the sport button on the FBSW?

- if you want a flat bottom wheel, your best option is to go for a newer multi function wheel (from S3 /TT I believe-?) It's a better wheel than the cheap & nasty RS4 one ;-) ..and you keep all functionality as is...

Don't be tempted to buy a S-Line steering wheel - they are inferior in feel, design and thickness to the genuine FBSW. The correct one to go for if you want the MF controls is one from a TTRS [non paddle shift].

Thanks for the advice. I've just spotted the retro-fitting guide in the pinned FAQs ;-)

I have a TT FBMFSW fitted in my current car (A3 Quattro), which is superb. Are they a straight swap? Do all the functions work?

I kind of liked the idea of having the S button on the wheel rather than the dash, but I'm sure I could live without it!
