hi, iv got a slight issues with my steering. when on full lock going left or right there is a judder as i move forward, anyone know what this might be!?
its just been to the stealers and had a full heath check and they didnt find anything??

Think mine does this to - the RS4, especially when full lock and reversing does judder a little - feels like I'm scrubbing the front tyre somewhat.

Which is exactly what's happening, the turn radius is not constant over the width of the tyres so the tread blocks in the tyres have to take up the difference. The effect is far more noticeable as the tyres wear and the shorter tread blocks have less movement.

yep I had / have the same issue. felt like the wheel was going to come off when you had to make a hard slow speed turn! Had new tyres fitted and the juddering dramatically reduced. Over time I guess it will come back as they wear down

(tyres needed changing anyway - i didn't change them just to resolve this issue!)

Yup, as the others say - they all do that but it's puzzling the first time you notice it, usually when parking. It's just something that is likely to happen on a car with wide low profile boots, and on some cars it's more noticeable than others due to suspension & steering set up. In my experience it's relatively mild in the RS4 compared to some others (Porsches for example get it quite a lot).

Best cure is to spend as little time as possible parking, and as much time as possible on fast sweeping B roads!

I took this up with the dealer I bought the car from a couple months ago and with ought he was pulling my chain by saying its normal.

After loads of research its the case. Interesting design floor though.

yes mine do,s this too. only had the car 3 weeks and the first day i drove out my garage had to use full lock and noticed it. it felt like the car wanted to go straight on and was scrubbing the tyres. after searchng here its normal and apparently gets better as the tyres warm up.

Exactly. A lot of cars do it, especially high performance ones as they run wider rubber.

The times you're on full lock are likely to be minimal. Just ignore it

- if it really bothers you, just make sure your tyres are never very low... -expensive solution(!) ..but I've not noticed the issue when the tyre blocks are at their max.

I too have wondered what this was, my mind is now at rest....
