AP Racing Front Discs

Post by TerryN » Sun Mar 17, 2013 5:22 pm

Hi All,

I Spoke to AP Racing about their front discs. The discs are fully vaned all the way through, so they say far less chance of warping. They are also drilled as standard. The cost of the Rotors is £235.58 (full retail). However they have 12 bolt hats, so you have to buy their hats on the first occasion £79.08 (again full retail.

They also said if there was a market and they could get a 'specimen' rear disc, they would consider making them. If my rears need changing (I'm gonna check that properly) then I will send them one of mine.

Sounds all good to me, Their discs and hats are about 35% cheaper than the OEM ones and lets face it, they are AP Racing.

They have given me contact details for my local supplier and I will contact them on Wednesday and report back with definitive prices and specs.

Any Thoughts?

Is that price per pair or each? If per pair then I make it 40% less than OEM, if each then something like 18% more (not bad if they're better of course).

Based on OEM price of £528 from Stoke Audi, which is the best price I'm aware of right now.

Any link and tech information about the discs, i.e sizes width etc.

Could well be interested.

is that £238 for each disc or a pair?, if its each then they could be the same discs loba uses for there setup.
loba use an off the self disc from AP racing designed for a 24hour le mans car or something like that and the replacement discs from loba (AP racing) are right around this price. ill be able to tell you when terry gets some specs and a part number.
the only difference would be in the hats and bobbins.

I googled and found this page, which I'm assuming is the right product:
http://www.apracing.com/product_details ... front.aspx

It has the specs and the installation instructions, which do suggest they are floating bells.

All, £238 per rotor + hats (you need to buy theirs the first time)

Tony's link is what I tried to find the other day. The price is each, although that is 'retail' They gave me a number of a distributor to see about 'discount' I know they are slightly dearer than the current Stoke audi price, how long will their price last. They did explained that these are the same design/spec as their racing discs, except they are sized to OEM. So one you have the hats, a pair of fronts will cost less that £500

The funny thing is, I thought the LOBA ones were made with AP discs.... Not actually knowing how long a set of front discs last, but having read that the OEM dont last great, I guess the saving could be quite good over time.

But, it would be great if they made the rears as well. I will be talking to the distributor on wednesday when he's back and will let you know what he says.
