Hmmm - I'd be interested in hearing [pardon the pun] your thoughts on this - I am thinking of replacing my RNS-E to bring the car up to date a bit more.
I MUST have BT audio streaming and HDD connectivity though - as well as decent satnav - I'm off to google this now!

I don't think you should have much problems with that Kev. How much do you want to store on HDD? The Alpine has the biggest capacity I could find with 10,00 files (including folder) but if you have a smaller collection I can;t see a problem. I've never looked at BT streaming though as it's not a feature I use so I can;t say much about that but if there's not many units that offer it I'm pretty sure you can get plug in adapters to do this. Not ideal but doable and seamless.

The Alpine INE-W925R has BT streaming built-in and works OK with an iPhone 5 - it's what I've got in my daily drive Citroen C1.

A question for Dave/Mike - With a suitable after market adaptor I take it one of these head units is plug and play with my existing BOSE setup - I am not looking at upgrading the amp/speakers for now.

Comments gents?

I believe so Kev. The Alpine fitting kit I ordered says you can optionally use it to power the standard amp and speakers. I also seem to recall seeing these types of kit when I first looked years ago. They will also work with the steering wheel controls (for you it will but not for me with my my OEM FBSW).

lol, that's the best thing for it!

That's some nice kit you got there, looking forward to seeing your install.

Make sure you use CDs or an ipod with ALAC files to get the best out of it, those mp3s just don't do it.

This is my first ever audio install so fingers crossed!.
I tried to read up as much as i could on talkaudio and diyma before i started but after a month of reading my brain couldnt take anymore and I decided to just buy the kit and get started.
Already made a few rookie mistakes and had to remake a few things a couple of times but its coming along, hopefully i have done everything right!.

sar - I take it you are rewiring all the speaker cables as well as I thought the BOSE system runs 2ohm? That right?
Any recommendations for car audio in London/South East lads?

I'll be looking to find someone to fabricate a box to replace the AMP/Bose gubbins on the inside right hand side of my avant boot space - I don't want to loose any space.
Anyone recommend a decent installer in London/SE or Kent that I can trust?
