Just wondering what people think as i have been considering a personalised plate for a while now but have remained unsure as im not sure if it would make the car look backdated.

Car is an 07 and im considering a plate of RS04 ***

I think it's fine and obviously a private plate - quite a few guys have got RS04 *** as it suits the car well. My wife's MX-5 has MX05 *** and that was on a 12 plate.

I've sent you a PM as I was thinking of an RS04 *** and I just want to make sure that I wasn't going to buy one that you'd set your heart on.

I think the RS plates are pretty pointless, most petrol heads know what they are and know what years they were made, better to get yourself a cheap private plate that means something to you personally that can be transferred onto any new car.

When I bought ROY's car I was certain I would just put it back on an age related plate and be done with it.

But I've got used to seeing it with a private prefix plate now and think a std one would look a bit... dour.

Considered an RS04 plate, and R54 plates. But I decided these would look a bit like they're trying too hard (no offence to anyone who has one of course!). I have a private plate on another car so have opted for one related to this :)

The decision was helped by there not being any of the 'RS' ones that really suited. Had my initials, or something amusing been available I might have chosen differently.

Well, I always said that I would never go down the route of a private plate, but i have just got one and it's one of they RS04... ones, I'm still not sure how I really feel about it, but at £250 all in, Its no biggie if I decide to get rid of it in the future if I end up not liking it.

However the Mrs thinks I'm a :knob: for getting it!!!

I suspect I might have the same "issue". So I didn't bother telling her :)

Have thought about a private plate as well, but havent found anything i like.

Do like the idea of RS04 - but as others have said if i move on from the RS4 it will look a bit silly on anything else.

Plus my Mrs thinks i would be a knob - guess they just dont get it

mine came with an RS04 plate on it with three letter afterwards. sadly not my initials but hey ho. did think of taking it off (have to pay for it of course) or getting something else but once again a common theme here - my mrs thinks they are <beep>. I was tempted to get one to put on the RS3 she drives just to piss her off he he he...

I personally quite like some personal plates but have not yet bought one myself..

I chased the DVLA for this for 7 years. I'm fortunate to have RS as my initials

I have a RS04 plate that came with the car, thinking of getting another RS04 one for the price of £250 they can be OK I like the FLY, UFO series,

I had this plate a few years ago bought it from a DVLA auction and sold it 2 years later and made £2000

Another thing is to remember you can make the car appear older via the reg but not newer

I think private plates improve the look of the car, but im not sure about having the model of the car in it, and I don't get private plates with the same number of characters as normal plates... they seem a bit pointless unless they say something cool.... like above ^^

I've made £750 on my plate so far, which isn't too bad....

Even worse when they are not even on the right car eg M5 XXX on a 520d!

I quite like personal plates. I had 'P9 CJO' on my old A4, and this thread has inspired me to look for a new personal plate and 'RS04 CJO' is available! All I need is an RS to put it on....
