Bluetooth kit
Bluetooth kit
Just thought I would share my experience, I received a motorola TK30 from Halfords for Christmas, after speaking to the Halfords guy on the phone he said I would need another cable as it needed to be wired into something in the boot. Long story short, I was not convinced he had done one of these before on an Audi as he didn't know how to take the head unit out, I suggested he left it and went to a dodgy looking place up the road (In Woolwich) and the guys there were fantastic, all in it did cost me £170 for the cable and fitting, but they worked for about 90 mins putting all the cables in and did a first class job. I now have a great bluetooth set up with all my iphone contacts on the remote panel, and it is integrated with the NAV system, so the radio turns off when a call comes through....
So basically, Motorola TK30 - Good. Halfords fitting service - not so great.

Re: Bluetooth kit
Sweet. But we all knew that halfrauds are ruuuuuuuuubish! I used to have a MK2 MR2 (pop up headlights) my at the time girlfriend was using it and one of the headlights went. She took it to Halfords and the guy worked for 45 minutes with no success, then got his mate who couldn't do it. The official reason they fobbed her off was 'The bulb is not a replaceable item, the whole light unit needs to be replaced and is a main dealer only job' EVEN THOUGH he had the bulb in his hand...moron.
Re: Bluetooth kit

VCDS will tell you - if something answers to address 77 then you've got factory Bluetooth.Les wrote:My car is supposed to have it but I don't think it has

Re: Bluetooth kit
PetrolDave wouldn't my iPhone simply pick it up? Do I need to do anything other than have my phones bluetooth on?
Klauster thanks, I'm in Aberdeenshire.

Re: Bluetooth kit
I bought the Audi bluetooth kit and fitted it myself. Easy enough job.
Re: Bluetooth kit
Only actively scan for devices IME. Think I had the ignition on but not the engine. And then entered the usual default code once found.Les wrote:PetrolDave wouldn't my iPhone simply pick it up? Do I need to do anything other than have my phones bluetooth on?

I did think there'd be a car menu option for pairing, but there isn't. You just search from the phone.
Re: Bluetooth kit
Murph thanks, I'll try again but when I did it before after searching for a minute or more nothing happened.
Grant if my car doesn't have it maybe you could be persuaded to fit another one

Les, I live in Aberdeen as well. First thing would be to scan your car with VCDS or remove the radio to see if it has Bluetooth. If not, then I could fit it and activate it for you.Les wrote:Grant if my car doesn't have it maybe you could be persuaded to fit another one
Send me a PM when you want to meet up.

Re: Bluetooth kit
You need to turn the ignition on (the BT will only pair with a new phone for a few minutes after turning the ignition on), then make your phone discoverable - and if you've got BT then you'll see a device with a name something like "Audi UHVnnnn" appear. Pair with that, it will ask for a PIN code which you can set using the RNS-E, and you're done.Les wrote:PetrolDave wouldn't my iPhone simply pick it up? Re: Bluetooth kit
The Audi Bluetooth isn't part of the radio, it's a separate module - that when factory fitted is underneath the left hand front seat and if retrofitted will probably be behind the glovebox.GrantRS4 wrote:or remove the radio to see if it has Bluetooth.
