Congratulations - great colour for an avant as others have said. I went for daytona after two silver ones, but still like the look (especially with the dark wheels...)

Thanks to Tony, these just arrived
Re: Avus Avant 2008 should I?
Now installed
Pretty happy mod for the price
Plus one other cheapie mod completed Before half way there Done
Open for good Hilti cap is perfect size into vac pipe and used a slim nail wrapped in blue electric tape for a snug fit into valve controller and wrapped that pipe in electric tape too to make sure there is not dust going in
Over all pretty happy and very happy with the sound, does make a good difference

Re: Avus Avant 2008 should I?....So i did!
The small tweaks continue
I just feel like the bright work gets lost on Avus and honestly love the black optics
I started with the rear rings, the grill surround will be next and mirrors to Ti
I need a tint too
Plasti dip is awesome Lots of light coats

Well, congrats on your new purchase man, I really didn't like silver RS4's in Avant or Saloon's, however seeing yours with the dark wheels and rails it looks great. With a full optics pack it'll look the nuts!!

Nice job on the plasti-dip on the rings. What's the finish like, would it scratch easily?

It need to cure for a few days but it a tough finish, doesn't scratch easily
I went for the matt finish but you can make it gloss
Dipyourcar.com on YouTube were a huge help! They did a R8, wheels, badges and then full car
It very easy, just apply with patience

You'd need to really try hard. It's rubberized so it has some give to it. I have my front filler plate plastidipped black (20,000 miles) as well as my grille (2000) and it looks new.TonyHayers wrote:Nice job on the plasti-dip on the rings. What's the finish like, would it scratch easily?
OP how on earth did that work with the rings... I. E. How does the plastidip not come off the rings when you you pull the big sheet? When I did my grill one problem was that it would pull off in a few spots so I had to redo it. Most guys remove the rings with dental floss, dip them, and then put them back on with 3m auto badge adhesive.

Fonzi at dipyourcar.com is a huge help
It's actually pretty easy, because there is a gap between badge and body there is almost a natural tear line, kind of like perforated cling wrap
Am doing the RS4 boot badge this w/e and will make a quick clip of the peal process
