20" v 19" wheels debate

All - I read with interest through old wheel discussions on the board and I've come across a couple of comments that the 20" rims are slightly less better handling than with 19" OEM's is this true?
I am currently looking at the best option for a wheel swap for my AVANT with SS+ - I love the Audi Q7 20's that dickytrickster runs. I am looking at 265x30x20 tyres with 5mm adapters from 5x112 to 5x130 as I dont want to go too far from OEM - looking at a tyre calculator they would be +6mm width from OEM
Now to source some Q7's & tyres
I will have a set of Tungsten 19" OEM's to sell in the spring once I've found some new rims, these are mint having only just been refurb'd by the original owner - stuffedbeaver and have no marks at all .....
Cheers
Kev.

They are 10mm wider and 6mm higher. Why wouldn't you get 255/30/20 so they have the identical height/ rolling circumference? I had this discussion the other day but I'd expect a lower profile tyre to handle better not worse. However, the extra weight of the larger wheel is adding more I sprung weight which will have a negative effect. I think overall there will be little difference. Experience in the past however has shown me the lower profile tyre to handle better but that was long time ago and technology may have closed that gap now.

Also, why do you want to change from 5x112 to 5x130?

If you want my advice about wheels and spacers you need to find the wheel you want first. Then once you know the width and offset of it, you can decide how much of a spacer you need to allow caliper clearance and push the rims out as far as you want them.

Hey Mike, I quote dickytrickster who says "The q7 stud pattern is different to the rs4 so you have top run adapters. I run 15mm adapters from 5x112 to 5x130 and the wheels fill the arches great"
I'd be happy to run 255x30x20 tyres - I'm watching a set of Q7's now -The only reason I said run 265's is that the rim size is 20x10 where OEM is 19x9 - I thought it better to run a slightly wider tyre to avoid stretching.
I am a n00b at this so may be talkin' b*ll0x!

No that makes sense mate, I didn't realise y were dead set on getting that particular wheel. If Tanya's the one you want then go for it. Dicky says he has a 15mm spacer but you said 5mm. Was that a typo?

Here's a handy link to calculate the alloy tyre combonation

I don't find the handling any different on the 20"'s but you might notice the ride comfort with the lower profile tyre. I chucked my drc out and put coils on at the same time so my ride comfort changed quite dramatically anyway !

Dazie, I assume you meant 10mm and 11mm spacers and not 10" and 11" wheels!?

Can you PM me how much you want for the wheels without the spacers and just 2 tires? Thanks!

Nope - I am looking for some of these - but still not sure about tyre sizes/spacers/adpators as they are 20x10
