Clutch renewal
Clutch renewal
Hi all
I named to change my clutch shortly as the clutch peddle is sometimes sticking
I have a few questions for anyone that has changed one already
Has anyone done the loba single mass flywheel and clutch
Do you need to do the flywheel
Cheers

Re: Clutch renewal
90% Of the cars i see need a flywheel ..No point fitting a new clutch to a worn flywheel .
The loba 550nm is a very nice unit .

Re: Clutch renewal
You sure it needs a clutch? Sticking pedal was duff hydraulic return pipe or something,it was a warranty issue i believe? Ash said your revolution intake looks well.
Re: Clutch renewal
Iengster I spoke to andy at autotechnica and he said it will be the return pipe corroded but the cars at 65k on the original clutch so I thought it may be time to do it
I can just do oem clutch but thought the loba one will be better
The intake is brilliant nice and quite during normal driving but very loud and angry when put under load I got the idea after going in NiJ'S car

Re: Clutch renewal
Two totally seperate issues though bud, does the box come out for the return pipe? If so i can see the attraction of just the cost of the clutch while its all out,i did the same with my b5 when motor was out for new turbos, after told all fine with old one when i picked it up i probably wouldnt do it again lol.
Re: Clutch renewal
My plan is to go for the 550nm Loba clutch if mine ever needs another one. Seems to be a stronger clutch with near OEM feel.
The induction kit is a great upgrade, turn the throttle into a volume switch!

Re: Clutch renewal
I recently had clutch replaced for standard item at MRC, as was having the same sticking problem. All fine now. They told me that the flywheel did not need replacing, which was lucky as the dual mass flywheel is around £700.

Re: Clutch renewal
What mileage were you at vestax? I'm at 68,000 on the original clutch. It feels fine in 'normal' driving but does stick down sometimes when pressing on.
Ultimately I think I will have the clutch, flywheel and return pipe all done at the same time. Not sure whether to go OEM or Loba and the single mass flywheel. What the price difference at MRC?

Re: Clutch renewal
Having mine done at a local indy at present - flywheel is dead (hoping warranty will pay for that)
Cost of parts:
Clutch Kit: £152.20 inc VAT (from Euro Car Parts - 25% off at present)
Flywheel: £650 ex vat (from TPS) - this is a discounted price - normally retail at £797 ex vat.
Labor - not sure yet but think they got the clutch out in around 3 hours - so say 7 hours at £55 per hour ex vat = £462 inc VAT.
Total Cost: £1,394
Add in around £70 for Clutch Return Pipe.
However the dealer may have issues getting the cats apart from the manifold as the studs and nuts corrode badly - had to have three studs cuts off and re-tapped - took about 3 hours extra.

Re: Clutch renewal
With local garage in Paddock Wood.
Did speak to Dean at 4rings but he would have needed the car at his lift in Dartford - as i need a car everyday it didnt really work for me, although i would have prefered Dean to work on it as he does all my other work - service next month (will get Dean to do it) so the car is costing me a bit at the moment
When i spoke to Dean has did have another RS4 in that they were doing the clutch on.
For info mine was on 58k Miles when it went funny. Actual clutch plate was only 70% worn - see my other thread.
