I have just sorned my car for the worst of the winter months (as its in beautiful condition) and don;t want the the salt, pot holes, gravel, and general #hit the winter months bring ruining my beast, I want to get the car out of the garage say once a month and run it up for 1/2 hour or so, So was just checking with you guys if the once a month for 1/2 sounds about right or should i just leave it in garage till spring, Cheers,

1/2 hour of idling isn't worth it. Ideally you need the oil over 100c which will take forever at idle.

What's the point of quattro if you don't use it in quattro season!

I know what your saying and i will miss it but i don't need to use it, it's my weekend toy and i don't want to use it in the crap weather just because it's got 4 wheel drive, My old fiesta banger will have about the same grip levels with it's skinny winter tyre's fitted and if i do slip and hit some thing i won't be upset and i can enjoy it in the spring/summer when it's back out,

Four wheel drifts?
Snow covered inclines?
Icy dual carriageways?
...these are all the things that your car does better than just about anything on the road. Dude, you're missing out.
But then again I'm biased as I love winter. I think my car was made for winter, therefore I love my car. Driving it in the summer, by comparision, is dull. I think it's just way too capable in good conditions to have nearly as much fun. A little controversial perhaps.
I too have the option of a skinny wheeled hatch back whenever I want. I can assure you it won't be used very much.

Well,
Living where I live and just recently bought the car I also thought about using it a lot less through the winter, however thats the very reason I bought the car as the place is covered in snow for a good few months so I'll be using it most of the time!!!
I just had the winter tyres fitted yesterday, and just in time too, its fcuking dumping down with snow at the moment. I'm off to sunnier climes for a couple of weeks but seriously looking forward to ragging the car up and down the local passes out my way when I get back!!!!
The car will be fine man, just wash it regularly to minimise the onset of the salt corrosion!!
Braaapppp!!!

I've just sorned mine too and put it in storage to get some work done.
2 day detail
2 x alloy repair
Full shod of new PS3s
Milltek re-alignment (such a pain!)
Apparently this winter is rubbish but next winter - WHOOOA! - that's the one when you'll need the RS4!
Caution - might have made up the winter bit - picking the car up in April for a trip to Italy to find a certain road maybe
Tile Driver - I'm in Chamonix over Christmas if you want to talk cars!
