Long Life Service

My RS4 is on the Long Life Service plan - last serviced 21/02/12 @ 55545 miles by the previous owner at Watford Audi. It's now on 58900 miles and I checked the oil at the weekend and it is on/slightly below minimum. Looking at the service record, the 'Oil Change' box is checked as 'No' but as part of the long life service it should be changed?
I called Watford Audi who said I should call Audi UK, who called WA on my behalf. They said oil was changed as part of the lls but they don't check as Yes? Seems a bit weird to me.
So question is, should I use that much oil in 3500 miles? Do I have to use the Audi recommended oil for long life service oil to top it up with?

Im sure Audi will say that around 1 litre used in 3500 miles is "within tolerance".

1l per 1000 miles is normal, but some cars might be worse than that. Shouldn't go from full to below Min in just 3500 miles though. Have you checked for leaks?
edit - actually, anyone know the volume difference between Min and Max on these cars? Maybe it is around 4l.

1litre in 3.5k is perfectly normal
top it up and carry on with life

I've had exact same query on a LLS check sheet, and yes, that's apparently just the way they record it
As D_K says - nout to worry about. I just got myself a 1l top up bottle and keep it in the boot for peace of mind in case the light comes on when I'm on a long journey (plus a 4l in the shed to top up the 1l with)

I understand your point, I thought the same initialy, but as far as I can remember there are 3 types of service you can have on your car; longlife, oil change and full service (can't remember if that is the proper name for it).
All 3 of them include an oil change.
If they ticked longlife and oil change they are implying that you have had 2 different types of service done and is almost contradictory; if I saw both ticked I would then ask the question 'which service did you carry out? The Oil Change or Longlife?'
So they are right to only tick the longlife box.

Plus one of these little fellas for clean oil top ups
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kitchen-Craft-C ... 589&sr=8-3 - very handy given that the card funnel that you get with a 1l bottle has to go in the bin after 1 use!

1ltr in boot and 4ltrs in garage.
Im using about 1 ltr per 2,000 Miles.
When on the lowest marking i fill with 1 ltr that takes it to the top marking.
Never worry about funells - just aim carefully and fill her up

5W-30, Robert. Head out to Costco and pick up 4l for £24 + tax (was 20% off, but that ended yesterday).

Nice. Just ordered the green one.
p.s. FWIW I always end up getting my oil from ASDA. Collecting from the local supermarket is handy and I keep missing the Costco deals.
