Tyres - Recommendations?

Hi All

I know there seems to be a thread about tyres every few weeks, but was just wondering what youy guys thought....

Currently running Bridgestones all round, fronts will need replacing soon. I've seen there's not much love for the Bridgestones on here, but I've not had any other tyres to compare them..(?)

...so.. if I'm looking to buy 2 x fronts, should I start the switch-over process, -and any particular brands / suppliers that are recommended / have deals currently?

Personally, I'd always recommend changing all 4 at the same time.

I've recently fitted the Goodyear F1 Asymetric 2's (in place of Sessantas).
They're great from the day they were fitted!

To be honest, Imho there's slightly less feedback and the walls I suspect "give" a little more.
But definitely feel very secure on the road. Can't comment on longevity or feel on a hot road.

I wont be getting the Sessantas again as they took forever to bed-in and then went-off far too quickly when hot.
However... they were very very good in the wet.

PS2, PS3 or Pilot Super Sport if cost is no object.

F1 Asymmetric if you want better kerb protection.

Sessantas if you're on a budget.

- ideally, I agree. Less of an issue if I stick with the Bridgestones as the rears are still OK. But I am keen to try a different tyre...

I'm not sure I like the sound of that! -I do remember changing tyres once on the RS2, with the new tyres allowing slightly more movement on the walls -scared the hell out of me initially

A heads up on the Pilot Super Sports - I've just ordered 4 in the standard 255/35/19 size from Camskill who did an online price beater thingy, so they are now currently on offer at £221 each with £12 next day delivery.

Obviously still expensive compared to some of the other options available, but they have a reputation for lasting a long time as well as being top performers.

Be interested in your views. Have them on another car and they're superb. Not sure on longevity yet though.

A guy on the Z4 forum had some on the rear of his Z4MC (343 ish bhp) that allegedly lasted nearly 20,000 miles including a couple of track days.

I'm hoping they will be worth the extra money over the Conti's that are coming off that have lasted 11,000 miles.

I always use Goodyears Eagle F1 Assyms on all my cars and got the wife to ditch the crappy contis for a set of F1s too (night and day difference). I can't recommend these tyres enough!!
By an unfortunate circumstance my new wheels came with Dunlop Sport Gt or whatever they are called. They took a long time to bed in and start gripping (the snow / ice didn't help), and I'm only just starting to corner a bit quicker again after losing confidence in their ability ealry on as I'm used ot the F1's gripping straight away and not needing any bed in. The Dunlops appear to be getting better now but still not got the confidence to throw it into a roundabout like I used to on the F1's yet. Getting quicker each time and it seems to be gripping whereas a few weeks ago it'd be slidding at a lower speeds.

I will only ever run GY Eagle F1 Asymmetric. (not DS3Gs as some ppl have mistakenly gone for in the past).

I did 12 laps of the Ring last year on a new set and they performed great, they are a lot better than the A1s, with the added rim protection, however im sure they make slightly more road noise. Not sure if its due to the coilovers that are fitted creating more resonance.
