Accelerator very sensitive
My RS has been very sensitive when cold and accelerating usually at slow speeds or general driving
When accelerating hard its fine
But say trying to accelerate slowly at 20 - 40 ish speeds the car doesn't know if it wants to go or slow down, jerky power delivery, loads of condensation bellowing out the exhaust which when clear the car drives much better.
I've changed the clutch switch but the problem has slowly come back
Once warned up its fine
Any ideas or checks I can do on VCDS

I'd be interested to hear peoples thoughts on this..... my other half reported jerky throttle response the other day when the car was cold - in her words - 'noticably more jerky than when I drove it last'. I've not encountered it myself so put it down to her right foot being de-sensitized by driving a diesel mini and had forgotten about it until Roy posted this thread.

might need to give it a good thrash.
My experience is that direct injection engines don't seem to like cold weather. they are fine just a bit well... sensitive.
Audi have th updated engine ecu firmware that on cold start will hold the revs at 1800 rpm or so for 20-30 seconds - no doubt to "help things along".

I seem to remember someone (may have been adsgreen iirc) posting that it's worthwhile doing a throttle body alignment (TBA) on VCDS if you've had the battery disconnected, which if I remember correctly, you've recently done quite a bit of work on your car.
My car suffers the same symptoms as your car. (It's completely standard with no Milltek)
Once warmed through, these symptoms disappear.
If anything my own car feels more responsive these crisp mornings.
The throttle is very sensitive even before the "Sport" button is pressed.
I was dissuaded from having the AUDI remap by my Yeovil Audi service advisor Paul Gould, as he told me that I'd "hate it" & it was irreversible.
Still a great car despite the gremlins. Pulls like a train & I love it.

Did some tests today and the jerky throttle is when the car is cold only - it's almost totally gone when warm.
Seems like a mixture issue to me????
Also noticed I'm getting rising revs when coming to a halt and dipping the clutch.
Will reset the throttle body tonight and check if its in sport / normal modes tomorrow.
I had a similar situation with a brand fire new E46 M3 I previously owned a while ago, I had it into BMW a few times and they said it was characteristic of the vanos set up in the engine and never got resolved - that car was really jerky for the first 2-3 miles from cold then it was fine.

I have the same problem. I think like adsgreen says its a characteristic of the engine. However some mornings when I've felt the car may be worse than usual I've pushed the clutch in and found at low speeds sometimes the hard suspension can make the engine seem like its more hesitant than it really is.

It's a V8 that's not yet up to running temperature, it will be a pig until the 'Not above 7000RPM!' has disappeared from the dash. Live with it - it's a characteristic of the engine, use small revs and change early in the first 3 gears until warm.

Damnit - and I meant to say to listen to Ads, a good thrash does help (don't be gentle with this engine, it'll carbon up otherwise).

I had the revs flaring up when coming to lights a while back Roy .. When I checked over the car I found a small split in the plastic breather pipe that comes from the rocker covers to the back of the engine ... Replaced it and all was well , might be worth giving it a look

Mines been like that since getting remapped at MRC... It's nowhere near as smooth as it used to be when cold, I hate it..

Accelerator very sensitive
The wife's S3 had the rising/dipping revs situation a while back. It wasn't a split breather hose but was actually a broken breather valve. The valve was located on the rocker cover IIRC and breather hose connected to it. If the hose is sound worth checking the valve too. Also as mentioned before, it can be the clutch switch. I think I'm right in saying that you test the switch by using cruse control ie if the CC works the clutch switch is fine.

The exhaust noise, with a standard exhaust, is sharper and louder (sounds great accelerating away from peage booths), all the rough cold starting problems have disappeared and the mpg is about 10% better.
