My trip to Banbury today...

Post by MikeFish » Thu Nov 08, 2012 12:51 pm

So, today's the day. I dropped my car off at MRC this morning for the following work:
Fit Tubi Rumore back box
Fit Milltek non-res centre section & H-pipe
Pre-cat removal
Fit cold air feed into Revolution Carbon intake
Replace nearside Aux rad
Stage 2 remap

I was going to have it tested beforehand but Doug sugeested they got cracking on with it to make sure i get it back today so no figures pre-work. However, as stated elsewhere, this was not about the power, it was about getting the Tubi fitted. Once i thought about it, it made sense to do the rest of the exhaust at the same time to prevent the original exhaust being cut in half. This led to a remap for the pre-cat removal and if I'm having a remap i might as well have the cold air feed done that also requires a remap. The other aux rad is leeking so it made sense to change it whilst the bumper was off for the cold air feed.

Roll on 5 o'clock!

Doug usually does all the camera work and youtube stuff for you. Leaving you to just pick up and drive off in an orgasmic explosion of noise.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I've never done this video lark but if you guys wnt a listen ill give it a go.

Fingers crossed they can finish it today. Doug emailed earlier to say that the milltek and tubi didn't match up so they had to cut the tubi.

On my way back there now. Doug reckons it won't be on the dyno until 5-6 so i'll probably get to see / hear its run.

The Tubi / Milltek interface was not straightforward as the brackets needed some welding modifications.

Just flashing the ecu now. OMG its a monster!
I tried to take some videos while it was on the dyno but the mic on my phone was mainly picking up the noise from the fans.

It's was running 390 (I assume that's PS, I forgot to ask) after the mods but before remap. I'm happy with that considering the age and no carbon cleaning yet. Would have liked to have seen what it was before to compare though.

There's a few pics on the MRC Facebook page. Doug said he'd try and get the video up tonight if he has a chance.

Doug and the others all said it sounds similar to an RS4 with no exhaust at all. For a car with standard cats that's not bad. Also said it was louder than the Milltek non-res with no cats!
