My car is in on Tue for replacement packs, they never had to look at the car, the service lady told me that my car was effected by looking on the computer, also getting free MOT and DRC check as its out of DRC warranty on the 26th.

Not too old, IIRC 2002-2008 cars are potentially affected and certainly some S4s have been covered. Give your dealer a call.

2004 S4 (B6) was in Saturday for this. 3 were still on the BBK engine so they swapped. Just waiting to hear back from the manager if they'd swap out the 2 spares I carry too. Not bad considering it's 7 years old eh?

thanks ali... i spoke to Audi in Brighton this morning and its booked in next Tuesday for the check. The service guy knew all about the issue and booked it in no problems. I remember when I had an issue with the M3 subframe and BMW did all they could to fob me off - in the end they replaced it FOC - cost over £4000!!

Just emailed the Audi service center up the road about this.... lets see what I get back.

Should the aux rads be checked aswell? Just cause they usually charge to have a look at anything outside what the car is in for!

I was told that there would be no charge even if they don't need swopping out, I also asked for them to check my car has all the recalls etc up to date and they will do that FOC. I guess every main dealer will be different but if they aren't actually doing anything then whats to charge for?

My dealer is usually happy to visually check the health of the car FOC. Certainly every time mine goes it they check the DRC for me.

Email back from dealer, they need to check the part numbers in my car, there no specific recoil for my chassis. If the parts need to be swoped out, no charge.

Might have them check the rear susp and DRC while there at it.
