After starting this thread finally got mine done yesterday plus a new inlet manifold too.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE:
how/why did you get an inlet manifold?
If i ring my local dealer and ask will they tell me about this, and whether my car needs it just of VIN/Reg number?

^ My car is going in to Camberley Audi next week - Rob from there told me that they have to look at the coil packs first and then see if any need changing. They can only tell you that it's possible one or more coil packs need changing from your VIN apparently. If any of mine need changing then I'll need to book the car in again.

I can't and won't say that as I've had the RH aux radiator changed on my RS4 - never had a problem on the S4s though...aka_dk wrote:next you'll be saying B6/B7 Aux rads arent an issue ...
All I'm saying is, let's not blow this out of proportion, yes there is a problem with SOME coil packs, but that IMHO is as far as it goes.
AND Audi have in the past, and are now, dealing with it BEFORE owners got really angry about it (we haven't had to write to Jeremy Hicks on this issue like we had to to get DRC on their agenda).

EPC light kept coming on and going out again intermittently. Fault showing was "manifold flap position sensor (bank two) implausible signal intermittent". Sensor changed, no joy so manifold removed and flaps found to be sticking. New manifold comes complete with new sensors and actuators.
Re: Coil pack crisis
all 8 replaced today, and washed my car free of charge, i have paperwork for the records too, also no sales pitch for extras,
thanks Lincoln Audi
also the girl on the service desk was very tasty!

Fault code P2021? Funny that because a course of DIP3 injector cleaner and a some good runs out on V-power solved mine. But then Audi are good for just replacing everything associated with a problem under warranty.
Re: Coil pack crisis
Got to see the old manifold, definitely sticky flaps and I'm not complaining!
I am also surprised that an injector cleaner (assuming that is what it is) or even V Power had any effect when the fuel doesn't go through the manifold. Anyway, glad it did sort it for you.

Re: Coil pack crisis
Sticky with what? I'm genuinely curious.
It's not necessarily the petrol that clean the manfold as that is not DI technology as you know, more to do with the Ketane in it gettting through the piston seals before they are up to temperature on valve overlap which is where oil deposits that contribute to CB appears to come from in the first place.

Re: Coil pack crisis
The shaft bushes were worn causing the flaps to stick randomly. When you moved them by hand they sort of clicked rather than moving smoothly. I guess sometimes they clicked enough to keep the sensors happy and other times they didn't. I'm also guessing that since the shafts exit the manifold and were wobbly there may have been some loss of vacuum but I have to report no power gain has ben noticed.

Re: Coil pack crisis
Had my coil packs checked today and they were all okay, so I guess it's the luck of the draw...
