Re: Private Plates
Not a big fan of RS or V8 plates but I always wanted JON4H when I was younger but then I found this and I actually prefer this now as its more understated.

I'm obviously not in the know. Help me out.GLOL wrote:I put B7 VPR on mine - only those in the know will know. Also, nicely matches the A8 VPR I have on the Viper
Re: Private Plates
Well 'B7' is the model number of the RS4, so I think it looks good if you know that, to anyone else, it means nothing I guess.MikeFish wrote:I'm obviously not in the know. The VPR is only to match the plate I have on the Viper, so that part isn't really relevant to the post - just there are a number of B7's available, relatively cheap and look good on the car.

Yeah I got the B7 bit, it was the VPR bit on the B7 I didn't get, thought I was missing something.GLOL wrote:Well 'B7' is the model number of the RS4, so I think it looks good if you know that, to anyone else, it means nothing I guess.MikeFish wrote:I'm obviously not in the know. I suppose it would look good/ hide its age as they don't look at all dated.

Re: Private Plates
As with all private /personalised plates, if they spell a name / word or can be 'got / understood' straightaway then fair enough, but the majority nowadays don't mean anything to anyone except the owner (whatever floats yer boat, I guess), but then they become pretty pointless, I think. To get any plate that raises a smile nowadays, generally costs a fortune. Anything decent has already been sifted out by number plates companies or by the DVLA for auction. Low price plates with no real relevance except to the owner (i.e. initials) could possibly tend to 'cheapen' a car..... I don't get them, but just my thoughts, that's all....
Re: Private Plates
Not true. Every 6 months a new set of registrations become available opening up a whole new set of possibilities.johnnydog wrote:

Re: Private Plates
Personally I think a plate has to be personal to you or add value to the car. Mixing the two seems a little pointless to me unless it is a throw away mod.
Both my cars have plates specific to them.

Re: Private Plates
This topic has finally helped me make my descision. I have decided that I'm going to get a plate specific to me and not an RS04 one. I Having seen a few rs ones now its made me realise that I'm not so keen on them and that a carefully crafted plate is def the better option, it'll also be a plate for life for not much more as its specific to me

All the decent permutations of the new plates available (those that look similar to a name or are interesting) from 1st March this year will have already been sifted out for sale by the DVLA at higher prices, and the so called really good plates will go to a DVLA auction. Number plate companies are well ahead of the game in order to get good stock of new registrations when they become available. Only the ones generally available that are those that are individually of interest to someone (that mean nothing specifically to anyone else). The DVLA are not going to let interesting plates go for the basic price!! Incidentally, my daughter has a private plate that virtually spells her name that she got for the basic cost of a plate, but that was only because her name is actually spelt like that i.e. not the normal way of spelling it. All her friends know her car because of it, but people that don't know her probably think its a corny way of getting her name on a reg!
