Gone to the dark side
Re: NATIONAL RS4 GATHERING?
More important is the dates, as Im off to the states in start of July, dont really care about location.

Re: NATIONAL RS4 GATHERING?
Hi folks,
Sorry, been unexpectedly busy this last week hence no updates from me.
Firstly, thanks to all who have registered an interest in the meet and also thanks to those who replied and posted up suggestions.
It looks like there is sufficient interest to have a meet of some sort so let’s go for it!
IMHO a poll would not achieve anything really as with only 30 interested parties at the moment you would just go round in circles trying to find both dates and locations to suit everyone.
After having a good look through the posted replies and considering the various options concerning dates/ venues/etc, my view now is that as it’s going to be our first meet that we should just have a simple get together. As previously stated, this should be in the Yorkshire area for reasons of centrality. Re the date; no matter what date is chosen it will never suit everyone so, as the ‘instigator’ of this first meet I’ll choose one that suits me(!) and hope that everyone else can make it too. My proposed date is Sunday 24th July. Exact venue to be confirmed but I am working on it!
A few folk have mentioned a trackday and although I am keen enough to have one sometime, I personally, would rather just have a ‘gathering’ type meet first. I have been looking at various track-day options including Tockwith, Elvington, and York Raceway but I am unsure about just how much extra organisation that would involve and I certainly do not have the time to spare in the summer(my busiest time of year). Additionally, without having any remotely definite numbers it is not easy to book anything up in advance.
After all, a big part of the fun of this gathering is simply being on one of the various convoy drives from the different areas of the country and heading for the big ‘meet-up’.
I’ll start up a new thread National Gathering – ‘add names’ to which you confirm your interest and once I’ve got a decent number of bods (we managed 9 in snowy Aberdeen in February so surely we could get 40 cars for a National in July) then I can then better decide where exactly we can meet.

Date looks good to me.
Looks like I can drag out a long weekend - going to see Iron Maiden at AECC Thursday 21st and have Friday 22nd off work; may as well take the Monday off too.
