I wrote that the OP's thread was useless, not pointless, it seems you have a comprehension malfunction. The thread in question has become 'useless' due to me revving you up and you being powerless to resist any urge to respond. I'm so sorry.

So, in the good nature of banter, the forum and US/UK (not Australian) relations.
I, hereby apologise to the OP, to ArthurPE and to anyone else left actually reading this thread that may have been offended, confused or bored to tears.
I'm out. To Arthur and everyone on Arthur's side, wins this one. I bow out, gracious and bored in defeat.

Go ahead and post your cheers of victory, I deserve whatever you throw at me.
No matter where you go, there you are.

:jump_clap: Well the other day I was sitting at 27.7mpg  but then I had almost died of boredom in the process
Tonight having just left work for home I got stuck at roadworks and hit 8.4mpg before we started moving again
And what's my point, well I don't have one, just sharing what the DIS said at any one point
When you are driving these cars the last thing on you're mind is MPG............ fact :FIREdevil:
If you want MPG get a shot of Dom's prius (sorry Dom couldn't resist) otherwise enjoy the mighty beast that is the RS4 (B7) because it truly is the bollocks :jump_clap:
bam bam you're a laugh a minute mate keep up the good work
Arthur you are technically very knowledgeable and help a lot of owners
Kiss and make up guys because at the end of the day each and every one of us has one thing in common RS4's............. HELL YEAH :beerchug:
It's an Audi RS4 V8............. what else do you need to know!

Holy Crap! I just wanted to know if my MPG was 'about right' given that this is my first foray into RS4 ownership...

For the record - today I did 200 miles on 3/4's of a tank and, according to the trip comp, averaged 22.6mpg. Avergae speed for the trip was motorway outside lane cruising speed.

I was pretty happy with this.

2007 Phantom Black Avant RS4 B7 - Gone :(

Jeeeeez. You must drive like Miss Daisy and should be in a TDi

(Hopefully the other two have gone and sorted a room out for themselves for a bit of cross Atlantic entente cordial )

Your car sounds fine to me.

350 if you nurse it on the highway at 70 mph and never give it the beans

That's what I've noticed.
If anyone can get 350 out of a tank they should trade it in for a 2.0tdi and save their money.
Must we always drive like a mad man to satisfy you? Ever hit a police patrolled or speed camera laden motorway on a long journey in a foreign country ? Every take your parents or grandparents or clients in your car where acting like a yobbish boy racer isn't exactly ideal?

Usually the people who say things like your post are a3 tdi owners ironically. They look at the rs4 aspirationally as some petrol head life affirmation that will always be enjoyed from 5000-8000 rpms as they heel toe downshift before taking corners at 40 mph. That's fantasy. Reality is you do what you do...go to work, go to the shops with your dog in the boot or backseat. And you do it in an rs4. If I take family on a long drive, I'm likely cruising easy at 70. I have also had 190-200 miles out of a tank on a week of shifty traffic driving or when having some fun... But I certainly don't think there's only one way to drive the car.

This is the face she gives me when I've been driving with little regard for her balance...

It pains me but saks is right - I have four kids under 6 and the rs4 is the family transport.
Not sure an under 1 would like full RS4 performance.

Sadly your right, on occasions you have to consider other occupants and road users.
