Oh I didn't realise you still had it fitted. You need to find yourself a friendly MOT garage if you know what i mean. I imagine even with the valves you will still fail because of the lack of cats. You just have flames popping out the back of that bad boy!
As I still have the stock cats I should be ok on the emission front but it's up to the tester if it's too loud. Last time he took a look around the car then asked me if it is a diesel!

He said it wasn't because of the exhaust but did say it was illegal to modify any exhaust to make it louder. He also commented on the (only very slightly) illegal spacing on my number plate.
Given all of the above I was in no real position to dispute. Add to that, they thought I was some career criminal that must have the same name as me (I had to show my tattoos and lack of scars to prove I wasn't then criminal they were after).
Anyway they gave me a section 59 which means I have to drive sensibly for a whole year or they could take my car!
It's so hard to drive slowly when the exhaust sounds soooo good under load!

I need to try and get a proper video of it before my car is impounded. It sounds so much more outrageous in real life then it sounds on the MRC video.
Sounds like another case of the the police using Section 59 in an inappropiate way - a rule that was brought in to deal with yobs driving style being used to punish people who speed but they dont have the evidence to hit with 3 points.

I wouldnt worry to much about it - if you are seen again they just seize your car and you can get it back for a fee :

"Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 states that any person driving a vehicle on or off a road in a manner that causes nuisance or inconvinience to other road users or members of public will recieved a warning that lasts for 12 months.

If at any point within that 12 month period you are caught driving in a similar manner then your car can be seized by the police and you'll have to pay a penalty to get it back. This is normally in the region of £200 depending how long they keep it for and what area you live in."

IMO, to anyone considering this, just go custom from DPs back. It's waaaay better/cheaper to design it for maximum attack with a switch over to silenced/CAT running. As opposed to fitting a loud exhaust only to end up cutting back, it's illogical and a false economy.
So im running Milltek 100cell DP's, Milltek non res centre sections and milltek valved (now valved by use of welding OEM exaust tips onto a previously non valved milltek backbox) backboxes. So in order to get the same results that pic id just need a straight pipe from the centre sections and could use the non valved tips that i had removed from the Milltek backboxes :FIREdevil:

Might take the back boxes off later in the week to see just how that would sound

I'd say, pretty loud but it'll be even louder with the extra full length straight pipe attached, something to do with harmonics/amplifications. Ask Doug how mine sounded when they first started it... I think his words were "What. The. Faaaaark?" Louder than a V8 with just manifolds. Anyways, just do it, you only live once, indulge the inner child.

Ideally, what you'd want, would be straight pipe (zero CATs) with a careful and considered bypass to silencers. I think the type of valve/bypass mech used can have a significant effect on volume too. When adding my bypass solution, the required bends and mechs cut my loud option exhaust sound by at least a third. It's kind of adjustable too, it's on a rocker switch and if you just tap it, the volume increases at perceptible increments. It gets well used; villages, underground carparks, tunnels... trackdays.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I do very much like the sound of all this! .... Its so simple to remove/refit the backboxex that it wouldn't be a issue to refit come MOT/trackday time.

TBH i guess it'd be 'wise' in a retarded sense to keep the 100cell DP's as 1) i wont have to dick about with them come MOT time (they are a right PITA to remove/replace) and 2) Even the no-cat DP's are around £500

Having the tips already I cant imagine the cost of fabing a straight pipe from centre section to tip will cost that much.

On another note, a friend with a Chrysler SRT8 added a set of exhaust cutout valves just post the manifold and that was bloody loud! unfortunalty being a road barge the cutouts caught speedhump/driveways so he had to remove them. He sourced them from America for around £250 with £80 to fit. If you're only after noise with no performance gain they could be a very cheap option.

*snigger* Well since you were driving a B7, I'd have to agree, there would be no evidence of you accelerating too fast...
