Had the coil serial numbers checked during a service yesterday. Apparently they aren't due to be changed under the current recall but the service dept told me that they expect the recall to be rolled (around March time) out to all include my RS4 once more coil packs are available.

They said the reason mine isn't currently included is due to low stock numbers of coils and once Audi get more in stock my coils will be replaced. ie, To avoild a massive demand for coil packs they are rolling the recall out step by step

To me this soulds doubtful but we will see!

Hi Mark,

I have already checked your chassis against the database and it picked your chassis number out as one of the vehicles which is going to be given uprated/new coil packs.

You should receive a letter from Bianca stating the recall, and we’ll get your car in as soon as the coils arrive.

The way this recall works is that every car between certain dates, that is on the list should be brought in. We will have the correct spec coils in for it. However, what will happen will first of all be a check. For example, Audi state that if coils:

Abc123 or

Abc234 or

Abc345

…are in your vehicle they should not be replaced, but if there is any other spec coils, they should be replaced with the latest coil which could be:

Abc123……..which would be the ones we would have ordered in for you.

I hope this gives you an idea into what is going to happen.

Cheers

Had mine done today. It is known as the 28E9 workshop action. I waited for the work to be done and when it took slightly longer than the quoted hour they apologised saying they didn't realise there would be 8 to change and that they would be hot!!

Still I've now got 8 new coilpacks FOC :) .

RS246 Rules!

Phoned the local dealer, said the magic campaign number, car booked in for 3 weeks hence - due to coil packs on back order. Car registered Oct 06, well out of Audi warranty, no questions asked.

Wonder if this will cure the epc light/ missfire when cold?

Mine apparently needs to go in for the workshop action
I have asked for the part numbers that need replacing but I suspect they want you in so they can cross you off the list even if you don't need any new parts and I bet they get paid by Audi for just checking.

I have a suspicion there is more to this than misfires, more like just 'fires'!

BTW an 07 reg didn't need the check

Mine was reg'd Mar 07 and needed all coilpacks replacing. IIRC it was a Nov 06 build which may explain it then?

Top response from James at Halesowen Audi as always.
Happy for us to check them ourselves;

"If you would like to check the following part numbers do not need replacing 07K 905 715 F, 07K 905 715 D and 06F 905 115 F"

I'll try and up load the document

File too big, 3.4mb

Basically, it says everything thats been said above with more detail on all the other cars affected. Gives part numbers to check for

Engine code BNS

If the following part numbers are fitted then all OK

07K 905 715F
07K 905 715D
06F 905 115F

If not then they should be replaced with 07K 905 715F

28E9 sorted out today as part of annual service - all replaced (March 07 car) FOC. Also added on the brake fluid change for £49 + Air con service for £49 and finally, feeling rich - 2011 satnav discs for 170 quid

just realised you have to take the plugs off the coils to read the PN so 80% of a plug change!

MOT completed this morning along with CP's Foc.

I was also told to bring in the wife's 04 TTR to be done as well.
