Dear me... Guess that kills the idea of ever owning one of these then.

Buy an RS5 and have a fiddle with the turbos... assuming it does end up being a turbo charged motor!
Ridiculous isn't it?! The original quote of £12k in Audi driver seemed OTT for a supercharger, but some people would have paid it, but £30-40k is just nuts. I'll second you on the RS5 option instead, maybe even a cab.

Mind you, I'm sure someone will come up with a cheaper supercharger option given time; and besides we all know MTM are expensive compared to some of the other indy tuning houses. ;-)

Mid 06 there was an article for www.abtpower.co.uk for an S4 S/C maybe this would work?

RS5? Last time I've spoken to my friend and Audi salesman, he said there was no word on that yet.... what wouldn't Audi UK do to take people's money...

Also, I hope everyone realizes that there won't be an RS5 before the model comes to a facelift, if Audi ever decides to build an RS5, which I still doubt honestly...

If they do make an RS5 it'll be nice - I had an S5 for a week recently and it is a cracking car.

Yes, but it's a shame about that god-awful front grill. IMHO.

I hated it to start with, but I actually grew to like the grill!

I guess that it takes all sorts!

Or the fact that if you take the badges off it is almost identical to a 3 series coupe.

Well, back on topic...

Does anyone have any hard facts about a *reasonably* priced supercharger option for the B7 RS4? Given that you can get s/c for an S2000 for about £3k. 8)

Just reading this thread on the price of the Supercharger kit. Agree that price is absurd, and not remotely in ratio with cost of the car (new).

Ruf charge similar prices for conversions on the 996 GT2, but this involves a full engine rebuild (rods/pistons etc). A lot of money, but more in ratio to the 130k cost of a GT2.

I can only assume that this charger upgrade for the RS4 includes a rebuild with a titanium conrod conversion. The conrods are the weak link, and I would have been surprised if the standard rods could have handled the torque increase.

This would explain why the initial cost was 12k (just for kit), then once they tested the car for so many miles, realised that they would have to upgrade engine internals, as well.

Rob, as far as I'm aware, the final price stated earlier in this thread does not include an engine rebuild, but I could be wrong and I'd be glad if someone proved me wrong...
