My first thought was a better/higher fence all right!

I'd say if you made some effort to rectify it she should be happy.

in England, the Highway Code/law states that vehicles shouldn't reverse from a minor to a major highway. https://www.gov.uk/using-the-road-159-t ... 200-to-203

So many Britons 'break the law' each day unknowingly by reversing out of their drive onto a highway (a minor to major reversing manoeuvre).

On the assumption that you are currently reversing from the road to the final parking place then you are doing your best to comply with the highway code and be a good citizen!

tho i agree its none of her business , in fairness it its better to start the car up and immediately drive off without being hard on it , the engine will heat up much faster as it has work to do , the oil gets up to temp quicker , its a myth nowadays to let the car warm up on its own , those were the old days when it was mono grade oils, that needed to be warmed up a bit to function properly ,when there were carbs with chokes that were very rich running so didnt drive worth a <beep> till things warmed up . ok if its frozen over or something thats different , you have to clean it off , but better to drive off right away and drive normally until its up to temp then rag it all you want :biggrin3:

^ Yep, totally agree with this. If you check the handbook they usually say to drive off straight away now. Won't do any harm idling it just not really any benefit to it either.

They have to say that for emission compliance.

If you parked "nose in" would that mean you have to reverse into the road ?? If so that is "illegal" .. so tell her you need to reverse in so you can avoid reversing onto a main road

https://www.gov.uk/using-the-road-159-t ... 200-to-203

"Do not reverse from a side road into a main road. When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can."

I normally wait for the revs to drop from 1500 to under 1000 then I drive off it's only 20secs worth just gives everything that little bit head start before you put load on it that's just how I am with fast idles/warm ups on start ups even on the trucks I served my time on. Since being told that when an apprentice I've always just let it run it's course for the little time it takes. But to stop my neighbour moaning looks like I might just have to start driving off.

Yesterday I spent all day erecting cladding at my side of the fence and I'm still reversing into my space behind my house. I'm just waiting for her to turn round and say "no, that cladding you put up is not working" but the thing is without any proof from the likes of a CO reader to measure she could say anything.

This entirely pivots around how good your relationship is with your neighbour and if you want to keep it that way.
If you don't care, tell her to go f**k herself and make sure you rev it quite hard every time you reverse it onto your drive. If you want to retain your relationship, then perhaps explain to her that reversing on is the easiest method for you, and apologise profusely before offering to put up a slightly higher fence to obstruct the glass flow
Either way, check your deeds to confirm there's not restriction in your tenancy just in case.

Makes me laugh how petty some people are, personally I would ignore her complaint just to wind her up.
