Having real trouble getting them to locate properly in the headlight.

The replacement unit only has two locating lugs, whereas the original has three and locates easily.

Also, it's nigh on impossible to rotate the bulb holder so the lugs line up as the bulb holder has to be rotated by almost 180 degrees from it's natural position, which is very difficult due to the wire into the bulb holder.

Off to try again.

Got them installed, but not convinced the bulb holders are as secure as the originals, does look better though.

Here's a picture I took yesterday to give an idea of comparison.

The LED's in Silas car was not supplied by Trups, but look to be the same.

Like I said they are off the shelf, they come with 4 lugs, if I trim 1 lug off it wont go in at all so I have had to trim 2 lugs keeping the ones that are closest matching to the OEM holders, the 2 you have locked in are secure, check back after a week or two and they will still be in place.

if you look through the front of the headlight you will see the lugs you have secured, if you think they are not secure then swap over the lugs to the other blank lug if that makes sense?

The new grey lamp holders have only 2 locating pins as opposed to the original having 3 so it took a little fiddling to line them up with the right holes. And obviously the original ones just lie at the right angle after spending the last 5 or 6 years sitting in the right position whereas I had to turn until I could find the right position for the new ones. Didn't take long though (only hampered by the lack of space to get my hand in) but I think they are now secure. Been out for a drive and still there so must be good!

The fogs are not as white as the LEDs which is to be expected as they are halogens but at least they got rid of the error and I never use them anyway. I did find some nice LED cree bulbs last night and also some inline plug and play H11 resistors (no wiring mod) so takes no time at all to fit and completely reversible. As one of my H11 leads is a little short I thought about getting these but given that they are never used I'm not sure I'll bother.
Anyway, the important bit:
The fogs no longer give any errors!
The DRLs no longer give any errors!
And strangely, the sidelights no longer give any errors!!!

I cna't figure out the sidelights though. One of them wasn't even working yesterday but now the yboth work and don't give errors. So for the first time in a very long time I have an error free DIS. It looks almost odd now that I can see what track I am playing or mp3 I'm listening to on the DIS!

Thanks Trups!
Didnt even see this Mike.

Thanks for that and im glad yours is working error free now. did you not use the ice white fogs in the end? they will go nice in your S3 as they will match the DRL's.

nearly done with the plate lights so they will be realesed next month fingers crossed.

I've still got your fogs in Trups. Like I said they never get used but at least I have whiter light and no errors so I'm happy.
The sidelights seem to work but the right one occasionally throws an error (and probably are actually failing too) but a quick switch off and on cures it every time. Only happens occasionally on cold start up so no big deal for me. I did order some error free ones to replace them but as they are working I will leave them be.

Oh and it's nice having the DLS working again. The Trups solution works great and it's nice when I catch the reflection of the leds on the car in front.

I fitted this kit to mine the other day and I am impressed with difference it makes over the PIAA bulbs (which were brighter than the std)

The LED is 80 smd and I believe it's this one below which Trups supplied as part of the kit. :thumb:

P.S. Stock up on plasters as your hands afterwards is going to need it

indicators can be done if someone can find me what relay is required as I would need to supply one with a built in diode's to stop the fast flashing from the low resistance.

There isn't a relay, the flashing rate is controlled by the ECU.
