I have 450 and it took all of my sig to get there at MRC. Always been a bit sceptical of AMD's claims although judging by what Okis car already has on it a decoke and AMD map could get there, especially if the manifold has been done and you dont know.

That's why the dyno is not very useful. It may help tuners dialing in a nice curve but for the end user do you care what a piece of paper tells you your car is capable of, or do you care of what your car actually does?

That's why I have never and will never dyno my cars. I just don't see the point other than to say to someone at a party 'you know with my remap and exhaust I'm making 440 hp'

I would much rather know what my car is capable of in certain acceleration tests...and of course I would rather just drive my car.

Saki the reason why you don't dyno is because your car is probably running 360, ignorance is bliss

IMHO Amd Rollers are a bit on the high side, the performance gain is still relative, as before and after are on the same rollers... more likely the numbers should be 20 down....

Indeed.

A rolling road is useful for before and after comparisons, but only if operated independently.

Figures from a rolling road can, and are, tweaked by operators. Often out of necessity. So unless you can 100% guarantee exactly the same allowances were made on both runs, (which is very hard to do), the outright figures should be used as a ball park only.

And at the end of the day, if a "390" car can out pace a "430" car over a quarter mile or in third between 3k and 8k, one or both figures are not right :)

Seeing a nice big number doesn't half do a lot to ease the wallet pain though

Would agree that AMD figs do seem to come out a bit high - having said that they do a before and after run so you can see the "over all" change.
Current: MK7 Golf R, Lapiz Blue 5 dr
Gone and missed: 2006 Sprint Blue B7 RS4 Avant. Non res valved Milly.
Gone: B6 S4. Noggy BLue. AMD Stage 3 (Milteck Res, Sports Cats, AMD Chip, Piper Cross Air Filter) ECS Drilled/Slotted Rotors, EBC Red Stuff Pads.

I guess that's possible. However my car, bone stock, ran the quarter mile at a certified dragstrip in 12.75 @ 108 (in other words faster than any magazine to ever test a stock rs4), so ignorance if that's what you call it is fine by me.

Ever do any actual acceleration testing of your performance car? I mean who cares about printouts from a computer...really.

Definitely feel 60bhp :-) Improvements to my engine airflow were outstanding.
Hi mate was that just a carbon clean? No other work?
His signature says MRC stage 2 430bhp so it sounds like he has had other work done, be it before or after the decoke I don't know. One things for sure, you wont be getting 430bhp out of a 6 year old RS4 with a standard engine, decoke or not. I suspect if he went from 370 to 430 he had decoke and stage 2 at the same time.
I had a stage 2 map already, albeit from another supplier improving top end, but I didnt like the throttle response it gave. Not entirely sure how the age of the vehicle is relevant. I see some fantastically disfunctional engines not a year old :-)
No other work done. I was keen the before and after difference was recorded on the same rollers. I had another run done on a different set of rollers known to me afterwards to ratify...as much as you can with RRs...
Certainly the improvements I value can be seen on the timings on the RaceLogic....much better than factory for sure ;-)

his car ran one of the fastest times I've ever seen for a stock or modded NA RS4
high mileage, never cleaned

My RS4 has a Revo map
MRC Dyno’d on Monday @ 399.4PS

Doug mentioned it could do with a carbon clean. So it’s booked in this Thursday for a full clean, valves, stems, inlet manifold etc. The car will be put back to standard with no mods to the inlet manifold other than porting and polishing.

Revo said they’ll remap my car free of charge once done and MRC says they’ll re-dyno it afterwards.

This should prove interesting and lay to rest all of the questions asked in forums as to the benefits of an RS4 B7 Carbon Clean.
RS4 B7, Mugello Blue, K&W V3 & HR ARBs, set up by Centre Gravity, Milltek Valved Non Res & cat bypass pipes, BMC air filter, braided hoses, DOT 5.1, Terraclean, MRC Full Carbon Clean, MRC remap 448PS 477NM, 20" S7 alloys with 4mm spacers & Hawke spigots 66.6 > 57.1, AP Racing front discs. Sold Sept 2019. Now rocking an F80 M3

I think the Arthur test is the best way to test the benefits of a carbon clean, not a dyno

I am planning to have the MRC one this summer, along with a stage one remap.

I am not sure if the car has ever had it done so will be interested to see how things go but regarding peoples opinions which seem varied I am not doing it for power gains as much as giving the engine a good clear out and making sure the set up is as it should be.

I will post before and afters here regardless for others to discuss as they wish. To be honest I am more about enhancing the cars looks than giving it more grunt and am probably one of the few that prefers to have the standard exhaust noise :)
