It's been an interesting journey and like others have said it's a shame the car has got to go - it will be a great buy for someone

Nope it will need bedding in.

This is the Audi bedding in procedure, I converted the KMs to Miles.

2500KM = 1553 MILES
2000KM = 1242 MILES
1000KM = 621 MILES

A new vehicle should be run in over a distance of 2,500 km (1553 miles). During
the first 1,000 km (621 miles) do not use full throttle and do not exceed an
engine speed of 6,000 rpm. From 1,000 (621 miles)to 2,000 km (1242 miles) you should also
avoid using full throttle. From 2,000 to 2,500 km you can then
increase engine speed gradually and briefly to 8,250 rpm.
During its first few hours of running, the internal friction in the
engine is greater than later on when all the moving parts have
bedded down.
How the vehicle is driven for the first 2,500 km also influences the
engine quality. After the first 2,500 km you should continue driving
at moderate engine speeds, in particular when the engine is cold.
This helps to reduce wear and tear on the engine and increases the
potential mileage which can be covered by the engine.
You should also avoid driving with the engine speed too low.
Change down to a lower gear when the engine no longer runs
“smoothly”. Excessively high engine speeds are prevented by an
automatic rev limiter.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

+1 I was just thinking the same......
I noticed some carbon build up on the valves of the old head that's been removed in the pic.

Went to the dealers this morn to have a look at progress, old engine, new engine etc. the new engine looks amazing! The old engine, not so good. Got to see no. 8 piston, the crown was all intact but the rest of it was in a pretty bad way, 3 of the valves were also bent on cylinder no. 8 as was the conrod as posted earlier. So all the damage was to this area but they are no closer to knowing the cause which is a shame. All things going well I should have the car back on Thursday with a brand spanking engine and all the old oil from underside and rear of car cleaned off and the rest of car cleaned :) thanks Audi :) this week is going to go real slow........

Think I'm going to ask for the damaged piston as a souvenir.

+100 on the break-in of the new engine
do it right, vary speed and load
gradual, gentle throttle
only apply load when engine is hot
afterwards do an oil change

For the time that I have it, I will be driving it gently, don't wanna risk anything going wrong when it's up for sale.

Ello mate, Ye I'm hoping to still have it for boxhill but I've already provisionally put it up for sale on here to see what interest I get before I get it back. Hopefully make it on the 16th tho :thumbs:
It's felt like a lot longer than 4/5 weeks but to be honest all in all they've been pretty fast since the claim was accepted, just happy that I'm getting her back.

I pick my RS4 Saturday from a private seller (Klauster). Is it worth getting a warranty or something similar? Where would I start ie what company does warranty cover for this car and that is worthwhile and not just a moneymaking scheme?

I think there is a lot of mixed thoughts on warranties.
I wanted my car with one and I'm glad I did now as it could've been an extremely expensive time for me.
I think it's down to personal preference though and I believe there are many owners out there with no warranties that have had many miles of motoring with no problems at all.
