No worries. The interface plugs into the GREY oblong port on the back of the RNSE. You have to connect a power and earth, and two canbus high and low wires ( these are all in the RNSE square power plug). It will work on your 2006 unit for sure...it works on both, I've tried it. The VIM device is expensive at around £180 retail. I Used the one I had in stock but will check with Nav TV for you. You do lose at little accuracy with the nav unit though so its a compramise. The VIM unit is plug and play whilst the installation instructions are clear, concise and easy to follow on the multimedia interface.C5ARK_RS4 wrote:Sorry for all the questions - but would you know if the Multimadia Interface (which you sent me the ebay link for) would fit into my RNS-E Nav unit? My car is 2006. Where does the multi pin connect into at the rear of the unit? At the moment ive got a Dension Gateway 100 connected into the CD Multi changer port for my ipod and it works well but I lose the CD Multi changer. I did look into the kufatec option with the video in motion but it looked expensive. Is the nav tv video in motion unit expensive?

With a 2006 (in fact any pre-2010) RNS-E there's no need for this compromise. You can modify the RNS-E firmware to remove the VIM lock but still maintain full navigation accuracy.RobbyRS4 wrote:The VIM device is expensive at around £180 retail. Many Many thanks for this info Robby and Dave. Much appreciated! I've been trying to find pictures of the back of the RNS-E to see what usually goes into the GREY oblony port but cant find anything? Any ideas?RobbyRS4 wrote:No worries. The interface plugs into the GREY oblong port on the back of the RNSE. Unless you have a TV tuner or an aftermarket multimedia adapter (for e.g. a DVD player) the oblong port (normally called the 32-pin AV connector) will be empty.C5ARK_RS4 wrote:I've been trying to find pictures of the back of the RNS-E to see what usually goes into the GREY oblong port but cant find anything?
