That's disappointing for Steve.

I'm guessing that on cars under 5 years it's going to make values fluctuate subject to history, as if they don't anyway. As a previous owner of a speed six engine TVR, values on those were all over the place depending on whether the engine had detonated and been rebuilt.... or had yet to detonate!

Perhaps when buying from outside the Audi dealer network (and subject of course to it having FASH up to that point) it might be worth getting an independent to run it through a main dealer prior to purchase just to maintain the history?

Steve,

Who is the warranty with taht is saying Wear and Tear ? personnally (and i may yet have to do this on mine) i would be pre - bisssing them to define how failing shocks can be deemed wear and tear on a 5 year old car with 50k on the clock.

Basically any warranty company can decline to pay for anything saying wear and tear !!!!!! wear and tear should be on items like tyres, bulbs, zorts, etc, Not major components that should give at least 100k or 10 years of service before failing.

Also did you try any other dealers ?

Others on hear have be declined by one dealer and covered by another.

Tonbridge Audi are not the best - OK on sales side - shocking on the service side. Maidstone are not much better and they are the same group (Inchape)

Is it not Audi UK call to pay for the parts, so the dealer used should make no odds, surely

I dont know how it works - all i remeber is seeing previous threads where one dealer has said no and another has said yes..

Would like to know how all this pans out and who your warranty is with as im potentially in same boat as you (although, touch wood, no DRC failer yet) bought from indy dealer who did the service, and paid for a 2 year warranty when buying the car just as a safety measure.

Who reported it to the warranty company ?

I have not reported it to my indy warranty company as i dont think for a second they will cover shock absorbers, wear and tear item.

No, I have asked Audi to sort it out under there 5 year GOODWILL offer.

Tonbridge Audi said no, Audi UK said no too, see prevoius post.

BUT HAVE JUST HAD A VERY STRANGE CALL FROM AUDI UK WHO SAID THERE ARE LOOKING AT MY CLAIM AGAIN AFTER THEIR FORUM MONITORS HAVE LOOKED AT THE RS FORUMS.

now make of that what you will,

HELLO AUDI, i love you all :kissmyrings: , please cover my DRC and you can have my first born. :bigblink:

If all else fails Steve there is a used NSF shock with DRC pipe attached and a pair of new valves on fleabay at present £160 for the shock and £130 for the valves. Take the parts in, ask for fitting under the used charter (1/3 off labout rates IIRC) and two cans of fluid and jobs a good un and a fraction of the £3k they want. They may say they won't warranty the parts because they didn't source them but what the hell.

If Audi are indeed reading whats being written on RS forums then suggest they read and perhaps reconsider their position on this:

Excellent news, a great result. Also nice to know Audi are not shirking responsibility and listening to and addressing its customers concerns. Acts like this will keep their customers loyal IMO..

Nice one!!!!!

Thought it was a bit strange they refused your claim when they replaced my brothers 2 shocks a couple of months outside the 5 year goodwill period for £650 (and he had slightly more mileage than yours and only a part Audi history with others being Porsche )

Persistence pays off!!!
Oh and good on you Audi for doing the right thing! :blackrs4:
