My car text check just done. LUCKLY mine is clear. I would NEVER have thought Audi would sell a stolen/recovered vehicle, whether acknowledged or otherwise.

Your right though. There are less and less reasons to by via Audi. Warranty and ease of finance being possibly the only incentives?

what a great advert for textcheck - i just ran it against my car (audi sourced) - all clear but if used at time of sale I would have been able to know the dealer told me the wrong number of previous owners. What a good little service for 3 quid

Just checked mine - all clean. :thumb:

This sounds like an invaluable service if the Audi HPI check might not be 100% correct.

Depend what you mean by 100% correct. An HPI check does what it advertises. The problem is most people think it does more than it does due to the adverts convincing you that's all you need to do for peace of mind.

My mate even questioned his insurer about the stolen/recovered tag on his car as it was gone only for about 18 hours and found locally. They simply said "well it was stolen and then recovered and that's what the flag is saying".

The more I here about Audi main dealers the more i'm convinced it's not worth paying the extra.
+1 on this.

Went to see the car this morning with wife and two boys in toe :) took the car for a drive (as did the wife) it drove very well. Car was in very good condition inside and out, previous owner must have had it detailed at some stage as very few swirl marks (or he took grteat care in cleaning it).

Side Bolsteres all worked out, Exhuast Flaps worked ok. DRC seemed ok for me looking.

Looked like new Discs on front. Wheels had been referbed, not didnt look a great job as looked like they had sprayed over the old areas where the weights were - in my experience over sprayed referbs on wheels = lacker peeling in around 18 months.

Now the bad points.

Audi advert says. Bluetooth phone prep - nope doesnt have it.
Audi advert says front center arm rest - nope doesnt have this either
Audi advert says carbon fibre trim - nope it has aluminium.

So what else doent it have that they are saying it does ??????? FFS it not that hard to correctly list a vehicle for sale.

Have asked for a true list of what the car does and doesnt have, and what work has been done to it.

On the RS4 does it have a switch on the lights if it has Auto lights ? - on my B6 S4 on the dial light switch it has "A" for auto - does the RS4 have this as well ?

Oh and they were not keen to move on the price, he tired the old look there are only 11 RS4's for sale (showing me the Audi network) to which i mentioned how many there were on the likes of Pistonheads and Autotrader. he then dismissed Warranty Direct as useless. (in fact there are 34 on the Audi Network - looking when i got home)

Also mentioned the fact its stolen / recovered is going to effect the value of the car, to which he replied "you think so" all surprised, then said that they would not devalue the car if i p/x it with them in a few years, asked for that in writting to which he replied i dont think we can do that (go figure).

All he kept saying was if you put down a £500 deposit we can make sure it doesnt get sold to anyone else - somehow i think this is going to be passed on somewhere else fairly soon.

I have a feeling its a fairly basic specced car, stolen / recovered with a way to high price tag.

All in all a fairly painful experience - had a nice drive though :)

Im getting the red mist just sitting here and reading this. I would have blew my top if I had travelled that way to view a car that was misinterpreted in the advert. And then them to have the audacity to not budge on the price. wow. Walk away.

A couple of the items it has listed (auto lights and auto rain) i didnt realise it dodnt have until looking through an old brochure last night were it states these need auto dipping rear view mirror.

I always thought that Audi could punch the vehicle number into their system and it would say what options it had - obviously not in this case.

Im going to give them a blasting tomorrow and tell em where to stick the car :)

As a man who is still pining for RS4 ownership, this is a very disturbing tale, yet every cloud has a silver lining as anyone who's been fortunate enough to read this will now have a better chance of avoiding such a situation.

I would certainly walk away, unless you're planning on keeping it forever and can negotiate a 25% discount...

I did hear a story about a Ford dealer, not official dealer, who sold his cars as "HPI checked" - not necessarily clear, just checked.... Punters fell for it though, sadly.
Lusting after and RS4.

I have walked away - and in not to many words told them where to stick the car :) what is even more annoying is that whilst im on the phone telling him i dont want to car he has the cheek to say he has just been handed a telephone number for someone else who is interested in the car. I hate people who try to pressure sell.

Although i shouldnt be surprised - i can just add this to my very very long list of the issues i have had with Tonbridge Audi and why i dont like them.

Almost asked him for the number so i could ring him and warn him off :)

Many punters think an HPI clear car can never have been in an accident - they don't get that a £30k car can have had £29k worth of repair work and remain HPI clear!

+1 hpi clear only means the paperwork is right! The car could still of had a substantial bang and repaired through insurance, hpi clear is no gaurantee your buying a physically straight car it still needs properly inspecting

Found another Audi dealer advertising extras i could clearly see the car didnt have - i was in a rush so didnt make a note of it - will try to find it tomorrow.

Also interstingly Tonbridge Audi have managed to remove that the car has Bluetooth, but left the other incorrect options and added that it had front center arm rest - which it doesnt :audibash:

Think i will make a call to Audi UK to see what they have to say about mis-advertising of their dealers.
