Yes I know they was not popular as only a few ppl commented on this thread. There not my first choice of rim, in fact thee was my 3rd choice. I mainly went for these due to 1) the weight saving and 2) they came in the correct size and offset.
The white writing was just a tyre marker, did it to give it that racing look.
(wish I still had my Stickers on.

Nitrogen filled tyres with a single air valve is pointless. Also nitrogen doesn't give more stable air pressures by itself - you'd get the same effect using de-humidified/dried air.
Do like the tyres and the r888's a fine choice tyre.

Personally I would prefare air, but was willing to give the nitrogen a go. What do you mean by "more stable air pressure by itself"?adsgreen wrote:Nitrogen filled tyres with a single air valve is pointless. Nitrogen expands the same rate as normal air. You could use n2, O2, co2 or n2+O2 and the results would be exactly the same.
The only difference comes when removing water vapour and humidity from the air. To do this you absolutely need one intake vent to pump the air in and one outlet to drain some off. Otherwise you'll never get rid of the moisture so won't make any difference.

Sonny
Car looks amazing....cant wait to see it in the flesh!!
Re Nitrogen
I'm no chemist but we use the Uniflate system as it purges the tyre twice before it inflates it to give it a proper fill. Until wheel manufacturers start making wheels with two valve holes cast into rims our hands are tied.
The Company developed their system 20 yrs ago and its been used exclusively in F-1 since the 1990's so must be pretty pucka (i hope!).
Looked long and hard into various options and found that Uniflate was the best machine out there - we have to have it calibrated every 6 mths and had great feedback from users who are sick of fiddling with pressures on track days.
Here's a link for others who are thinking of going with Nitrogen fill in the future - £10 for 4 tyres aint a bad deal and certainly better than a foot pump or an uncalibrated petrol station machine.

Keep the modyfying coming on Sonny, I think yours is probably one of the most extreme RS4's in the UK now......

Worth double stressing the point as your post gives the impression that on track you don't need to change or adjust pressure with ntrogen filled tyres.
Nitrogen will expand as it heats like any other gas and will need adjusting on track.
F1 use nitrogen purely as they have tyre temps peaking over 100c so any water moisture in air inside will cause havok with pressures.
Even uniflate's own website claim the benefit for a road car is to reduce natural leakage due to smaller molecules (like o2) permeating through the tyre carcass material.
For a track car you're going to check pressures at the start of the day and for the first couple sessions at least so air leakage isn't a factor. So you're nice super accurate fill goes out of the window as you'll still need to check it on site at the track.

Re: New wheels fitted. 18"OZ Alleggerita HLT with R888's
Interesting point, I have never used Nitro before in a tyre and is still a learning curve. Obviously I was wrong in thinking they will stay the same psi, I found this out on the test drive yesterday with the TPMS system. I was getting 16c per wheel after 30 min front wheels was as high as 20c (this was a road test staying within the speed limits). I did notice the that the psi was increasing, now I though they would have had more tolerance. fronts increased by 4psi.
Question, when adjusting can you top up with air?

Re: New wheels fitted. 18"OZ Alleggerita HLT with R888's
yes you can top up with air but then you're making a marginal and questionable alternative even more so.
That being said you're likely to do more wear to a tyre with it underinflated looking for a n2 top up than if you just put some air in.

Hi adsgreen
Dont want to hijack Sonny's thread but surely you need an accutrate set up to start the day/journey and obviously pressures will need checking to make sure you dont have a puncture - get accurate pressure guages and you wont go wrong....also check wheel bolts, engine bay for leaks and such like as part of a safety routine.
Have you had personal experience of Nitrogen filled tyres as it appears you dont seem to be a fan of it?
You can fill up with air Sonny but you make the inflation less pure, I think they have 150 dealers in the UK now so you should have one nearby.

That's good to know. Well I like to try new things (trial and error) and will run with them for a while and on the track to see how it goes. If I dont like then I will swap back with air.
