I spoke to audi customer services today as dealer was a bit vague. They said mine wasnt covered by the recall, which has really pissed me off as ive changed 3 coilpacks in 6 months ive even got a spare new one in the boot  Mine is arpil 07

Audi have now informed me my coilpacks were already replaced so I didn't need new ones. Previous owner experiencing faults so changed under warranty perhaps.

So maybe it go's on build date then, or are they replacing a batch of faulty units using vehicle serial numbers?

I was told it was serial numbers rather than build date - there is a range of faulty serial numbers and until they inspect the car they don't know if yours need replacing.

If there is a cut off date, shouldn't this be based on the build date rather than the reg'd date?

Mine needs to be done and it's an '06.

This is campaign 28E9 for coil packs which was September 16 2010 initial release in Europe.

The explanation for 28E9: "It is possible that an ignition coil can fail to function, in which case the emissions warning lamp will light up, as designed. In some cases, the customer may also notice that the vehicle pulls unevenly"

The 28E9 campaign lists that coils numbered 07K 905 715D or F are satisfactory, and any other (presumably pre-D suffix) needs to be replaced with an F. Oddly, ETKA appears to list D as latest suffix.

Mines going in next wednesday to have them checked. apparently there are over 189 vehicles affected. I will pass on the relevant details including campaign number once completed.

Again i was told that it was a build issue and not a date issue. they have to check mine against a list of serial numbers and then replace if nessessary.

mines in next week for them to be changed, this may explain my emissions light coming on intermittantly on the dash

Mentioned this to the dealer and his reply was:

Hi Mark,

I have already checked your chassis against the database and it picked your chassis number out as one of the vehicles which is going to be given uprated/new coil packs.

You should receive a letter from Bianca stating the recall, and we’ll get your car in as soon as the coils arrive.

The way this recall works is that every car between certain dates, that is on the list should be brought in. We will have the correct spec coils in for it. However, what will happen will first of all be a check. For example, Audi state that if coils:

Abc123 or

Abc234 or

Abc345

…are in your vehicle they should not be replaced, but if there is any other spec coils, they should be replaced with the latest coil which could be:

Abc123……..which would be the ones we would have ordered in for you.

I hope this gives you an idea into what is going to happen.

Cheers
