Nope as I don't have the pio stereo, I am trying to get Danny to the point where he can check for himself, at the moment the DIS screen is not even looking for commands from the Nav unit.

I hope it works as I will be after this unit if it does, otherwise im looking at a made in china Jobby that is not even expected to be out until Q2 2011 but will support all the features that I want including, driving the DIS.

You are most likely correct, but if made in China can do it, Pio might have pulled it off !

This is made in china's device,

http://www.zenec.com/en/

if you watch the flash you will see it works with DIS, however this is for VW, the audi variant is not due until Q2 next year

The "made in China" devices I've seen don't have TMC, so you won't get re-routed to avoid jams.

This one definitely does afaik most of them do, as they are actually win ce devices running igo 8, tomtom or whatever you like. This one supports regular free tmc (what we get with rns e) or you can do a lifetime 1 off payment and get tmc pro.

I abandoned TomTom when they did their latest upgrade - which only came with Europe maps, I need Europe AND US maps in amy portable device.

TMC in the UK is NOT free, both UK providers transmit the TMC data encrypted and only provide the decryption keys on payment of a (large) licence fee. This is also true in some other countries such as Finland.

I have double checked and igo devices support tmc as standard, so igo must have done a volume deal with tmc to get the same basic version that we get with the rns e, as the china seller said though, if you want pro tmc you will have to pay extra above the cost of the generic igo software.

I think they are telling you what you want to hear...

The two providers of TMC in the UK are ITIS and Trafficmaster. I suggest you ask them if either of them have a contract with IGO.

Audi have a contract with Trafficmaster so Trafficmaster TMNC is what is received by the RNS-E and MMI, but the older RNS-D receives ITIS TMC.
