You rate the poorboys stuff over megs or autoglym?
RE: Re: Just spent £250 on Dodo Juice Products
In general as a brand, most definitely. But I have not found one brand that I like everthing in their range, there are certain products in their line-up that are the money shots/ their USP and diffeentiator, biu I also think some feel there is maybe there is a gap in their line-up and so try to productise something to fill that need and then miss the mark and have a product that cant compete with Brand X and pulls the rest of the brand downin the process.... AutoGlym SRP is a totally awesome and underated product and always has a use and always come back to it over any brand for certain jobs; but then some of their products in my Opionion are completely useless/ dont work for me. Same can be said for Megs or others
I guess it all depends on your budget and if you have the timeand inclination to buy 10 different products from 10 different brands to do 10 different things. Most people arent that way inclined I would suggest and walk into Halfords and want a product to do the exterior paint, a product for the Interior, a product for the wheels, and a product for the plastic trim and if they can just go along the shelve and pick up one of each all from the same range then all the better, plus there is marketing as I expect everybody will be drawn to the range that visually sells better... I would suspect the Megs would appeal to the younger gen and the AutoGlym wouldbe visually packaged to appeal to the older gen... generalisation I know, but just an observation
Now there any many products that will do all in one and so for many they are perfect and I would say megs/ autoglym fall into the halfords, weekend and hobbyist car cleaner/detailer,and there are many that provide a product for a point solution and so have mult-step routine detailing products and are for the entusiast and detailer, such as poor boys, zaino, dodo juice,Jeffs etc
I do like lots of the poor boys range and IMO together with Zaino and Optimium, they have the most detailed and the lineup that has the most amount of good products in the range. But O always find myself getting brand x for job a and brand y for job b. Each person will have their own experiences.
I would suggest to anybody to buy a range of products form brand x and if you like it stay with them,if not try swapping that individual productfor another brand, if no better go back or try another brand. Eventuall you will have a list of tried andntested products for each task. I have my favourite one-step product when i want instant results fast and my favourite multi-step products when I mayeb want to detail overa coupleof days.
But in a nutshell, yes I rate PB over Megs and AG overall.

I favour
Heavy cut G3
Light cut 3m finnesse it
AG Super resin polish
AG sealant (high definition something or other,1 panel at a time)
Engine and hinges etc with AG machine cleaner
Tyres and wheels cleeaned with Megs APC
Gliptones for leather care
Rimwax for wheels (yet to try though) usually just use AG srp
Autosol for tailpipes etc
Tried some other stuff but have settled with this lot, what do you think?

Different products for different cars and different colours I would say. For example I know Poorboys EZ Creme Glaze and Ultraslick Mirror Finish Polish works well on sprint blue but on Avus, Misano or Phantom did nothing to enhance the gloss or 'wetness' of the paint.
I gather the AG sealant you are thinking of is Extra Gloss Protection?
Rim wax does OK on the rears but on the fronts with more heat from the brakes I don't find it lasts very well. AG SRP+EGP if from high street, best so far for me though is Duragloss Polish bonding agent with 111 Clear Coat Polish and then Total Protection Polish on top.
SRP on bodywork is very chalky but good filler if you don't have access to a machine polisher and you want to hide swirls. If darker colours then instead of SRP use AG's UDS.

AG High Def Wax is that, a wax, not a sealant.
I've used AG, Poorboys, Megs, Dodo, Swissvax and others and the best combo I have found differs on how much time I have. If you want a proper details then Poorboys Ultra Slick Mirror Finish, Duragloss Polish Bonding Agent with 111 Clear Coat Polish, then 1 coat Duragloss Total Performance Polish and topped with Collinite 915 Marque D'Elegance Wax. Two coats of 915 for the winter. and kept topped up between washes with Duragloss Aquawax. If short on time miss out the PB and DG TPP.
I use Duragloss for ease of application and use; there may better products out there for slick or wetness but not many are as easy to use.

yeah you will be taking some of the wax off and other contaminants and then re wax, if u wax again and again your just waxing over <beep>, plus the lube has waxy properties, natural wax only lasts a couple of months at the most but they give better results and are easier to apply, you can do 2 coats when u wax as well
A great bible here that originally inspired me and from people that know their onions...

Just feel it, u can feel the contaminates on the paint, i paint cars for a living so i know a thing or two about the surface of a paint finish, you can clay bar as often as u want it don't do know harm, it just makes the surface cleaner before the wax goes on, buffing also does the job with added scratch removal
