You may want to check that with Audi directly, but that's the information I have.aka_dk wrote:are you 100% about that Sims? I think it is still an insurance product as per status quoSims wrote:.... RS4 Warranty
you had an answer, you just don't like it....
it's out there for anyone who wants to look...
I'm not your insurance /warranty agent, it's up to you to perform due diligence, but what you said was innaccurate, that's all, nothing personal:
-Audi warranties are more expensive...not true
-BMW/Porsches are more technically complex...not true
-Audi is remiss in not discounting their warranty due to extended warranty on specific components, no manufacturers do that, so all are remiss, or it is standard practice and not somehow cheating the customer...
no need to get personal, insulting or angry...

How about specifics - tell me about the EXACT extended warranty costs on a 2007 RS4 (that's the car & year we are talking about mostly for this discussion at say 30k miles, and the same for a 997s & a BMW M3. You have 2 weeks to find out![]()
And while you are it, may I also have a detailed comparison of the cover offered.
And if you feel so inclined, you could do the same for a 2005/6/ or7 RS6-v-M5 -v- 997 Turbo.
Thank you and goodbye....
Back on topic, I just ran a quote with Warrantywise as follows:
2007 RS4, full main dealer history, 31k miles
Upped the labour rate from the standard £35 inc VAT per hour to £120 (seems more reasonable for an Audi labour rate)
Ticked optional boxes for air bags, air con, catalytic convertors and multimedia.
Quote I got was £1,650 pa - that's more than Audi!
The other quote I got a couple of months ago - which is tempting - is Inchcape at £999 for 3 years (plus a £200 initial inspection fee). Not quite as comprehensive though (eg doesn't cover multimedia sytsem).

So I'm i. When i made a few inquiries regarding Inchcape i was told its only available via the trade.
Apparently Warranty Direct are putting together a new warranty package for performance cars.

Hi Dave, does the Audi extended warranty really cover air bags & cats, I don't think it does and checking the exclusions on the warrantywise one, i'm not sure they are in any way worth the extra premium. My quote (see earlier post) returned a far more competitive £1100 amd I was quoted £1672 last week by Audi.
Personally I think the concerted effort should be to ask Audi why they won't afford long term customers ( I'm on my seventh Audi) who have recently invested £50k + on one of their flagship models, the same benefits they are now offering any new car buyer with the extended option at purchase.
The inchcape warranty quote I got was my local Audi dealer - Crawley Audi. I don't think there was any requirement to have bought the car from them. I'm still undecided whether to pay for a warranty or just take the risk. I've never taken out an extended warranty on any previous car, but then I've never run a car that cost £55k new!
B2DUG - I've not checked the policy wording on the Audi policy - nor the warrantywise one for that matter. I just ticked the options I thought I'd want for peace of mind if I was paying for a warranty. There seems little point to me in taking out a warranty for over £1k if the most likely failures - ie things like cats - are not covered.

The warranty on my RS4 expires at the end of this month (June '10), so I've been investigating my options too.
After a few on-line quotes (etc) and a several conversations with Audi UK and my dealer, the best price I've been offered (by phone) is from Warranty Direct - A not too unreasonable £750 per year (with £50 excess), for full prestige car cover; which includes MOT failure repairs.
I await an e-mail highlighting the Terms & Conditions. So, I'll keep you posted.

I've just checked my quote and it states the vehicle as "AUDI A4 RS4 QUATTRO". So all appears to be in order......I just need to review all the 'small-print'.

Policy includes up to a maximum contribution of £50 per day for up to 7 days car hire if your car cannot be fixed in first 24 hours if a breakdown is a result of failure of an insured part and if you do not have cover elsewhere.
Emergency travel
