Hi All,
What were your experiences with "M1 esp 5w30 VW504/507"?
Thus far I am using "M1 0w40 VW502" I find that if I drive the car hard I do burn oil at a rate of 500ml per 1000km, however, if I just drive slowly around town, its not an issue. I am wondering if other oils would reduce the oil burning? Especially oils that meet VW504/507. The car has 147,000km, there are no leaks and the exhausts are clean, so the oil is disappearing somewhere, but I don't know where... yet.
Cheers

Re: Oil usage
Is VW502 OK for an RS4? I thought only 504/507 depending on your service plan. 0w40 will be different viscosity to 5w30, thought not sure if it's a wider range of operating temps, or if there's maybe times it doesn't work the same.
I've only ever put in Edge 5w30 and the car goes through about 1l every 1000 miles (mix of city and hard driving).

Re: Oil usage
cool - VW502 can be used for fixed interval changes. As this isn't my daily driver and I will change the oil every 12months, I will only do about 8000km max between changes.
VW504 is long life oil. Audi Manual confirms this.
M1 0w40 is recommended by M1 for fixed intervals.
M1 5w30 esp is recommended by M1 for long life changes.
My only thought is that a car that is run in, without leaks, no blue smoke, clean exhausts and driving beautifully should not use that much oil. But it could be normal. My other cars have been beemers and even when red lined like crazy they never showed any oil usage, though the M engines don't have quite this much power (apart from the new ones)...

Re: Oil usage
i forgot to add VW504 = petrol standard (long life), VW507 = Diesel standard (long life), VW502 = Petrol standard (Fixed interval)
