Sam

Exactly which michelins have you gone for? Is there any nuance to the type of PSS you are running. (You imply different to those you have run previously). My car is completely standard (inc suspension) so apols if off topic but I'd really appreciate a view on the latest thinking on 'best' tyre. Currently Conti Sport Contact 3s (I understand a no-no) but will look to swap soon.

Many thanks

John

I am running V12's 275, and no rubbing with 10/8. Unless super big dip front left. Are v12's considered wide/narrow or standard compared to the rest?

Hi John, topics on this forum generally meander anyway, so no worries there.

To elaborate on my previous comment. I have previously run (not on RS4's) the original Goodyear Eagle F1, original Michelin Pilot Sport, Michelin Pilot Sport 2 and Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres on M3 BMW's. On my RS4's I have run Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3, Michelin Pilot Sport 3 and now the newly fitted Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Overall with every new iteration of tyre from both manufacturers and have felt the performance to have been improved. For me, tyres are a no compromise component of the car and I buy them purely on performance characteristics alone and don't care about durability. Having run every Michelin Pilot Sport tyre I feel that the latest Super Sport one is the best all round tyre to date and a superior choice over the best tyre Goodyear has to offer.

Caveat - I do run winter tyres when the time comes as their performance exceeds the best Summer tyres when ambient temps drop.

I echo what Sam mentions - a rear sub doesn't just move.

I went from Conti's to GY F1's (wise move) and with SS+ (new springs fitted too so raise the height ever so slightly over the old springs) and 8mm spacers all round I get some rubbing under load/marginally compression.

As Sam mentions, the GY do squidge a little more but they are without a doubt, with rim protection a wider tyre. 10mm spacers at the rear on my set-up and I'd be rubbing a lot more.

Not a problem,

I purchased a set of four 255/35/19 XL 96y versions for £580 delivered from Oponeo and got my wheel refurb company to fit/balance and dispose of the old tyres for £10 + vat a corner. There is car manufacturer specific versions (MO, AO etc) and also a lower 92y load rated tyre, but I steer clear of those.

Looking now, the price has gone up a little. I think it fluctuates with the GBP vs EUR exchange rate. Tyreleader and Mytyres are other online companies forum users have recommended in the past. Just be sure to have a suitable company lined up to fit them, as some places I enquired charged over £35 a corner to fit and balance! Which I thought was rather cheeky.

My GY from Tyreleader were £124.25 per tyre - the GBP/EUR rate affects this daily. I was having a refurb at Lepsons so the fit and balance was £10 +VAT including the disposal of the old tyre.

I've found Tyeleader to be the cheapest each time. But that does depend on the volume they are selling I'm sure at the time and thee change rate...

I am in complete agreement with Sam - on this type of car it is grip over durability every time. I have also just fitted PSS to my car last week and they are absolutely great - I thought the car was pretty good on the continentals I bought it with, but now the grip is unbelievable both dry and wet. It is the best road tyre I have used since the old dual compound Bridgestone S02 pole position. If you don't want to go the online route I got mine for £655 fitted by Micheldever tyres.

Just had 8mm H&R spacers fitted with new GY F1 tyres and full wheel alignment.
Wasnt much hub left for the wheel to sit on. Should this be okay? Or should I check the nuts every so often just in case?

If you have no vibration issues, and longer bolts you should be fine once cranked down. Rest should hold-up per usual.

It feels smoother than before. Alignment is much better. Well should be perfect now. Have the 35mm bolts in.

Did you not get Hubcentric spacers?

I got them through revolution the site Sponsor.
Just standard ones.

.........After having a read through posts I now believe I have the wrong ones.

Balls!!!!!!!!!

Took over 2 weeks for them to get to me also....

How much of a lip do the hubcentric give the wheel to sit on??
As there is only 2-3mm with spacers.

Hubcentric ordered from virdee. Came within two days.

Nightmare to take out last bolt on each alloy with normal spacers. But got the job done and new hubcentrics are in.

Feel safer :kissmyrings:
