Sorry to hear about your nightmare.

If you want a cheap plate I have R54 EVN on retention, you can have it for £150 plus transfer costs?

There are so many traffic cameras and speed cameras in the UK I can't see anyone lasting long without plates. So whoever has their plates stolen...like the op... is going to have to get new ones, yes? Do you get them from cracker jack boxes or something? Don't you have to go through the ministry of transportation?
Nope, we can get plates from any auto factors/garage who have the equipment to make plates. All you need these days is your registration document and proof of ID and they will make new plates for you. The company making the plates are supposed to have a license to male the plate and there is an serial number in the plate so the ministry knows which licensee made them.

It's a bit tighter system than a few years ago when just about anyone could buy the gear and start making plates.

You can order 'showplates' online and mess around with the letters and numbers making a 6 look like a G and an 11 look like an M etc.
Mint Optic Pack saloon in Daytona Grey (Now sold)
B7 RS4 in Sprint Blue (Gone to a very good new home)
Evo V1 (wish i'd kept)

I certainly appreciate the offer so thanks Pid, however I've actually had my eye on one for a good few months now so this incident has been just the nudge I needed!

Hi there "drmanhattan"

Sorry to hear about your plates saga,I am not to far from you over in Fleet,

Its a bit late now, but it might be worth thinking about going forward...a CCTV set up

I have set a system up to cover my pride and joy, from "the scum" cost about £350 you can mask the area's that make it too sensitive, you can set alarms, text or email or you can use output alarms and you can view from anywhere in the world from your phone, so..... discreetly hidden, someone taking the plates off your car you approach from behind with a ucking large bat, "BAM" dont **** with my car!

As a side issue had not heard of this one? had the inspector visit my car today, to give approval before the warranty starts on my car he was telling me bits and pieces about people nicking RS4's and one of the things he said was if you see one or two guys follow you into a car park, garage ect and they are acting strange whilst your car is running they have equipment that they can blue tooth the details from you car and collect details to obtain a key from a dealer?
RS4 B7 Avant,2007
Metallic black, Black optics pack, Black gloss Wheels, Milltek black tipped -valved, MRC Installed TTS Supercharger 610ps/626nm, MRC stage 3 remap, CAF, DRC/SS+ with H&R spacers, carbon race splitter, carbon trim

Well they didn't actually nick my plates. It seems that when it was advertised back in March (prior to me buying it) they just did an autotrader search against the car type, mine came up and they just wrote down the number plate and got someone dodgy to produce one for them! Word of advice is therefore always to block out your plates when advertising or I guess even if posting online social media! I'm surprised the garage that sold me that car weren't sufficiently switched on to do this.
