Error free LED DRL kit.
Re: Error free LED DRL kit.
The colour looks ok so as long as it's error free, it will do. Is this the PIAA bulb?
To be honest I never use the front fogs anyway but it bothers be they are not the same colour (well they are the same colour as I have LEDs but they give errors).

Re: Error free LED DRL kit.
Ok, let me know the total and how to pay please. I'm pretty sure the B7 uses the H11 for fog lights.Trups wrote:fogs are custom for me, I had them made with darker blue glass giving it a really nice white light with NO yellow what so ever.
I am pleased with the outcome, I have H11 fit and H7 fit in this type.
They are £10 a pair, if buying separate postage is £4 or I can add them into a DRL kit and as the postage is quoted in the kit you will only pay £10.
Re: Error free LED DRL kit.
Mike.
Total is £27 posted, £17 for cancellers and £10 for the H11 fogs, postage price included in the cancellers.
will pm you paypal now.

Thanks Trups. Paid now.
Re: Error free LED DRL kit.
So - spent some time today fitting Trup's kit for my DRL's here are the results. I didn't use Trup's bulb in mine as I wanted a brighter set up.
They look SO much better - word of warning - make sure the replacement LED bulb you use is properly fitted into the grey adapter or you run the risk of dropping the bulb into the headlight like I did today
Thankfully my neighbour has a tool for everything and had a handy bendy long spring like tool with a retractable grab on the end! [thank god - I almost took the headlight off]

Re: Error free LED DRL kit.
Looks so much better, you used the same bulbs that I have, had them over a year, still fine

Re: Error free LED DRL kit.
I think they are the same bulbs I have too.
PS got the bits you dropped off Trups, so thanks. Haven't had time to fit any yet as the kids have been sick and now I am sick!

Re: Error free LED DRL kit.
I also fitted these today, using my existing bulbs (Skoda LEDs) but replacing the 50w resistors I had been running which produced the occasional error on start up (only when autolights were on, wasn't dark enough for headlights & car hadn't been driven for a while).
In defence of the resistor solution they had been inside my headlights for a couple of years without visible signs of heat damage.
The kits however are a plug & play solution involving no modification to the oem wiring so are completely reversible as well as not producing additional heat inside the headlight so are highly recommended.
Only slight issue on installation was the new fittings were a bit harder to get the fittings to engage with the back of the headlight but this is a minor inconvenience and the bulbs shouldn't need to come out so is a one off.
For those worried about losing the bulbs in the headlight look through the headlight and you can ensure the bayonet fittings are aligned and turn them in the correct direction so you don't inadvertently undo the bulb whilst installing. If you do drop the bulb a coat hanger with sticky tape allows you to retrieve it fairly easily.
Thanks to Trups for taking the trouble to arrange for a better solution that works and the speedy delivery. You asked if the original contacts were removable from the bulb housing - one will unlatch fairly easily but the centre one looks permanently fitted so the adapter solution is probably best as easily reversed and the fittings look very bespoke.

Re: Error free LED DRL kit.
Fitted the fogs and the cancelling units now. I replaced my LED DRLs at the same time as I noticed one of my old ones had partially failed! Had some new ones that I never got round to fitting so used them.
The new grey lamp holders have only 2 locating pins as opposed to the original having 3 so it took a little fiddling to line them up with the right holes. And obviously the original ones just lie at the right angle after spending the last 5 or 6 years sitting in the right position whereas I had to turn until I could find the right position for the new ones. Didn't take long though (only hampered by the lack of space to get my hand in) but I think they are now secure. Been out for a drive and still there so must be good!
The fogs are not as white as the LEDs which is to be expected as they are halogens but at least they got rid of the error and I never use them anyway. I did find some nice LED cree bulbs last night and also some inline plug and play H11 resistors (no wiring mod) so takes no time at all to fit and completely reversible. As one of my H11 leads is a little short I thought about getting these but given that they are never used I'm not sure I'll bother.
Anyway, the important bit:
The fogs no longer give any errors!
The DRLs no longer give any errors!
And strangely, the sidelights no longer give any errors!!!
I cna't figure out the sidelights though. One of them wasn't even working yesterday but now the yboth work and don't give errors. So for the first time in a very long time I have an error free DIS. It looks almost odd now that I can see what track I am playing or mp3 I'm listening to on the DIS!
Thanks Trups!
