Push them for replacing clutch and also a 2 year warranty on the engine too. I know someone who had an engine replacement and managed to get this so he effectively had 5 years warranty on the car from new and a brand new clutch/flywheel (car had done 30k miles at the time).
Don't Audi do 2yrs on parts anyway?
Yes... but only on parts you buy (or contribute to).
So if the entire engine is replaced free of charge under warranty then you only get the balance of the warranty (if any remaining).
For example:
Car with three year warranty.
Engine explodes in fiery death 2 years and 344 days into the warranty.
New engine fitted and say it takes two weeks to fit.
Then the warranty on the new engine will be the balance... or 6 days.
Although as the OP is selling the car it may not be relevant, but I would strongly advise anybody in a similar position to contribute a token amount (only has to be a small amount) to the repair. This trips the part warranty.
However the labour/fitting should be covered so if the engine is installed incorrectly then this is a separate issue.
