Something has gone wrong in cylinder number 8 but as you can see from the pictures it could be con rod, piston, piston rings or the pin. That's the email I got today with the photos.
I did hear from the warranty company that the ecu had no codes present etc, but as for data they haven't said?
You've been without the car for nigh on 3wks now and I would bet you have another 2-3 even if they started replacing it now.

Just heard from Audi and despite the weather the assessor has been and gone (obviously not a BMW owner) he is going to report back to Audi warranty with his findings which I haven't got a clue what they were and I should have a definate answer on Monday ref the cause and who is liable.
I'm gonna be worrying about this all weekend now, damn you Audi

Yeah I'm surprised their still keeping you in the dark.
When they agree to fit the new engine you should ask for the new B8 Rs4 engine to be fitted - if it fits of course

That seems like a completely reasonable request.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: Possible dead engine :(
I'm finding it hard to understand how some people get so excited over a broken engine!!!

Re: Possible dead engine :(
I'm not excited about a broken engine, but from what I have read on this thread is that the engine is dead and will need replacing, nothing is going to change that.
Why not take a positive stance as see if you can get the new RS4 engine with 450 bhp.

Re: Possible dead engine :(
A B8 RS4 engine is just a B7 RS4 engine with twin throttle bodies, plus raised limiter and twin air intake and for the latter addition it is the reason it doesn't fit.

Was it the oil slowly dripping on the road or the con rod hanging out like a saggy tit, or the knocking sound, or a scored linerYou don't know man. You weren't there
