you mean you're going to spray the ali trim? The black optics and thinner than the ali trim so would look different. You could sell the ali trim if you take it off carefully, claw money back from buying the optics.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Looks awesome Ben and what a thread!!!
really enjoyed reading the whole thread and has really given me food for thought on what mods to try on mine.
My intake flaps are giving me trouble at the moment and I'm stuck on what to check for next been reading so many possibilities I'm confused as its so intermittent and epc only comes on after a good hammering and car goes in to limp and won't go over 7000 rpm
Do you guys think it may be worthwhile trying a new intake sensor ??

Epic thread.

Car looks & sounds fantastic Ben, really enjoyed the YouTube vids too and have subscribed to see more! Totally going to play around with my gopro once I've made some mods.

Extremely interesting to see the progress you've made and mods you've chosen to do to your car.

I will definitely be taking inspiration from your styling tweaks for my Daytona saloon and keeping a list of the performance mods for when funds allow.

Thanks so much for sharing. Looking forward to the first track day vid you post! :)

yes was planning on it! didnt realise it was different to the Black optics will have a look at some black ones before i decide to see what style i pefer! as my ally trims are mint i may offer a swap with someone less fortunate as i have read a few are starting to let go now.

thank you so much it makes it all worth while sharing it and taking the pictures to inspire others.

in regards to your problem after a quick search it seems the EPC light could be a result of carbon build up or duff actuators on the inlet manifold flaps? have you had a carbon clean? do you know anyone with vagcom that could possibly take a look? vagcom should at least let you know the sensors are performing as they should as it gives live feed backs of the sensors! when my MAF gave up i had engine management and traction lights on permanent but no other obvious signs of change the car still ran faultless. i haven't seen the EPC light on my car during the ownership

You will love it buddy its definitely a bit special to own! i refer to my wheels as "titanium" they are in a satin like matte finish and its an audi option colour and because of this is recognized by most powder coaters so you shouldnt have a problem getting the colour from someone in the wheel refurb business!

Much appreciated it is definitely more personal to me now with the mods i have done which is what i was aiming for. The Revolution Airbox is a must though and is my best mod to date but the exhaust does also compliment it well! it wouldn't be right without the 2 in duet but as a standard car boasting a sexy V8 its just to quiet and my first priority was the soundtrack

cheers! i couldn't believe it but i had as many if not more compliments about how well it sat on the motorway as i did about how well is sounded on my trip! wheels fill the arches so nicely now! i may have to space them a bit too as how it is now its on standard fitment but i dont want any rubbing so will have a play with some and see what i can get away with :greyrs4:

I have to say that suspension was never really on my radar for mods but the more I see of yours and others with more finely tuned set ups, the more I like it - mine looks quite high at the front whereas I'm quite happy with rear, esp now with 8mm spacers all round.

Great news on the forge oil cooler! Was really hoping someone would take that on - did you talk to Grizz?

yeah its been a trade mark really i had an m3 before and that didnt look to bad and i lowered that on coilovers and after having them fitted and looking back its shocking how high the car looks lol! Its nice on the RS though as still having 19" wheels you still get a fair bit of ground clearance. its not a bad priced mod and like you say you can fine tune it to your liking and you get to keep the DRC which isnt a bad setup when working!

Yeah im personal friends with guys at forge and this being a common occurrence now and an expensive fix they have took on the challenge to make a replacement! car is leaving me this afternoon for a week! they also have the AUX rad that i deleted and are thinking about making replacement items in ally for those to prevent corrosion! I haven't spoken to Grizz no why?

Hey Ben....I see you wrapped your CF Induction box underneath? What wrap type did you use? I haven't heard of anyone else doing this but guess its another source of heat soak protection?

Ah nice one bud thanks for posting. I guess a sheet of the following will do the trick? I reckon there will easily be enough to cover the CF induction box as Ben did and probably enough for 2 applications :thumb:

search sonnys old posts on here, he used to run a gruppe m induction kit(same as revolutions).
instead of directly wrapping the intake itself he made a heat shielded compartment to block the heat from the manifold/engine, much better idea imo.

Awesome post ben, quite some mods you have done there. Interested to see what happens next :biggrin3:

I have just installed the Revolution intake and my temps are running slightly higher than with the OEM air box. Going to tape up the underneath like Ben has here. We will see if it will bring it down a little. Next step is sonnys heat sheild!
