Well he's in a pretty strong position at the moment.
Our Sale Of Goods act (revised 1997 I think) states that goods must be fit for purpose. There's an amendment specifically for cars bought from registered dealers (including second hand) that roughtly translates to any issue that occurs during the first 6 months that could not have been resonably inspected at time of purchase then the dealer has to prove the fault was not there at the time of sale or fix it / purchase the car back (subject to reduced amount for fair use). After six months it's on the consumer to prove it was there.
Something like a thrown rod simply couldn't have been reasonably inspected so off to a good start. The only angle the garage have is abuse but as you say... ecu logs should show that.

I suspect the delay is down to bun fight between warranty company and the dealer.

Yes because we all know the warranty company (audi) expressly discourages anyone from accelerating their $100,000 sports sedan , from 0-110 mph.

A car for which they boasted of nurburgring lap times, and the very car they used at audi experience track days, including fun drag racing sessions on the straights, all over the world.

Good thing you always keep yours below 45.
:?
Oh dear.
sakimano... you are obviously not a stupid person, so please try not to come-across as a complete prick on this occasion.

All drivers of their beloved RS's will of-course give their cars "the beans" on occasion. Some may even track them regularly (race track, not drag-strip).

You however, have repeatedly whined-on about how your "standard RS4" has compared/competed favourably against your mates (JHM?) tuned car.
That and how your car has performed (or not) when factoring in the carbon issues.

To even vaguely suggest the repeatedly blatting your car up a drag-strip is within the expectations of any mass-market car, is frankly ludicrous.
Even you must realise that any Audi warranty company would laugh you out of the garage, should you own up to it.
Knowing that.... you obviously would never even mention it, should your engine go pop.

I have seen ramped cars at Audi dealers with the engine dropped on the floor. The Mastertechs deciding whether or not the car has been "tracked"
I assume they are referring to Track-days NOT dragging. You wouldn't stand a chance... what with all your previously posted times.

... in fact why even bother with the warranty anymore.. or are you just going to lie and hope ?

Sorry OP.... bit off topic.

When have I ever said my standard car competes with jhm modified cars? Huh? I started a thread to show he before and after quarter mile times of a friend who got carbon cleaned. He had no real mods though... And we were not comparing my car to his.... Rather we used my car as a control since since it had had never been carbon cleaned.

I think you're just getting confused.

My service manager was well aware that I took my s4 to the dragstrip a couple of times. Again, accelerating the car does not kill it. I realise you don't understand the dragstrip but there is no 'repeatedly blasting' the car. It is likely 4-5 runs over the course of a few hours and in my case it has been 6 times over the life of the car

I will advise you that you are wrong. If they are looking to see if a car has been tracked

A) they are not looking at an rs car... Audi encourages taking her cars to track days (where sustained high rpm driving sessions for fifteen to twenty minutes are FAR more damaging than the strip)
If they are looking at an rs car
B) they are looking to see if the driver fucked up (money shift/over rev)

Accelerating on an on map is not dissimilar to the dragstrip... So be careful you don't admit to going on the highway briskly in your 420 hp car.

My missis has taken her a4 sline there a few times and they are useless in there it went in with some electronic faults and came out driving worse, they even let her drive off without connecting the main breather pipe that goes onto the engine, I would never take my rs there if your in sussex I find portsmouth audi more helpfull even though I hate main dealers good luck with it all. Hi Marc,
Thanks. Ye I bought it from five oaks, when I saw it on the ramp I knew I had to have it and within 3 weeks it was mine. It's at Portsmouth Audi now getting looked at as they are closer to me but they don't seem to be too quick!

What's a time trial run to do with a dragstrip pass?

Audi does not void warranties for amateur users making occasional track visits.
From the horses mouth as it were
http://www.audi.co.uk/content/dam/audi/ ... icy_v9.pdf

Specifically, page 11, "Warranty Exclusions"
This cover does not cover any injury, failure, loss or damage caused by, arising
from or in connection with the following:

9. If the vehicle has been used for competitions of any kind, racing,
pacemaking, rallies, off road use including track days, for any form of hire
or reward and usage for or by driving schools.

Now not saying they will be harsh with this however the clause is there and can be invoked if required.
It would be quite straightforward to argue that a drag strip run was
a) off road.
b) pacemaking as timing is involved.
Either of which would be enough to void the warranty.

not sure about Canada but pretty sure Audi USA does not exclude track days, drag 'test and tune', driving schools, etc.
it does exclude 'racing' or 'competition' events

since when has talking about how your rs4 performs or compares to another rs4 on an rs4 forum been considered "whining"?.

You are getting confused again

In that thread I said nothing about beating a jhm car. I said the opposite... That he has only gutted precats and £125 jhm intake spacers, and he beats my stock car pretty soundly. By a bus length when we compared them.

When you're done watching Geordie Shore you can apologize. :)
sakimano wrote: gutting the precats is a great modification. A friend has a basically stock car with gutted precats while I am fully stock and he beats me pretty soundly . He's not even tuned, has stock exhaust with the resonators deleted (which does next to nothing) and has JHM intake spacers which just help his intake manifold stay cooler, but when we were racing both cars were well cool.
