Mine's wearing about the same then. I'm very pleased with my purchase back in 2010.

halfway through a second season on them for me.
i'd say i do about 2-3000 miles on them over maybe 4 months.
had to replace one of them recently after getting a hole in the sidewall, but after about 4000 miles there was maybe 1/1.5 mm difference in tread depth between the old and new one. so at least one, possibly two more winters from these.

btw. they have been awesome this last week. i live on a single track lane on a steep hill, road closed all week - big sign and cones. plenty of cars ignored it though instead og going the long way round, slither marks everywhere and dents in the hedge from where cars slid off the side. got in and out all week - no bother at all. the alfa stayed in the garage, rs4 - perfect for the school run !
came back on Wednesday evening, some chap in a E class declaring the hill to be satans spawn itself, all sorts of bother getting himself turned round to get out after getting perhaps only 20m from the start of the upwards section. i then went past and up to the house, no problems. not feeling smug at all. no, not a little bit :-)

Haha sounds familiar! Pics from 2.5 hours playtime last Sunday. Retraced the route Weds night for fun with a mate and whilst the pick up had been recovered there were loads of tyre marks heading into verges, roadsigns down and evidence of cars 'having moments'......

Fairly typical of my luck - bought a set of winter wheels and tyres the same as Dave's and the weather turns from being -8degC in the morning to +9degC in the space of a week. So all those enjoying the unseasonable warm spell, you can drop me PayPal donations :)

Still, pleased with the purchase. Full set of wheels and winter tyres for the price of some second hand rims elsewhere on eBay. And the set seems to have sensors in too (followed the TPMS reset procedure and no errors etc).

The handling is definitely not as sharp on these, but not that bad either. And they don't look as good, but should be easier to clean and it won't be as much of an upset should they get nerfed in the bad weather.

The chap still has a couple of sets left.

Now I just need to hope my prediction of more cold, snowy weather comes true!! And I'll update with views when it does.

Which of the two 18" options are those, 7.5" on 225 tyres or 8.5" on 245s? Looks good!

I decided it wasn't Q-car enough.

I'm having the wings knocked in next week :D

(It's only for winter - I'd like a bit of extra grip in the snow, and am less bothered about these getting caked in salt :)).

7.5" with 225s.

The car has 8mm/10mm spacers ff/rr (Dave can correct me if the numbers are wrong).

As an aside, the jacking points add to my smiles about the way this car is designed. No mistaking where they are, leaving you fumbling about.

Tonight was the hardest and fastest I've pushed my winters by quite some margin. +3 and bone dry with all the recent wind. The front felt okay but the rear seemed more lively than on summers, seem to wander about more, the opposite to what you'd expect given the tyres and wheels are smaller, bigger tyres tramline etc. One occasion moving across newish white lines and catseyes the car really pulled. Makes you concentrate! But I was going quickly.....

Tyres are properly run in, done a few thousand miles, maybe 39 psi is a bit too high pressure, but thats what the book states, same pressure for summer 18s and winter 17s. Slow in, fast out, whilst I wasn't going mental the front did seem locked through roundabouts. Maybe not quite as much lateral grip after a direction change straight lining a fast roundabout. Partly the drop in tyre size, partly the tread blocks moving around. Overall very impressive.

(summer 18x8 B6 S4 Avus with Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 2s, approx 4000 miles, 39 psi)
(winter 17x7.5 B5 S4 Avus with Vredestein Wintrac Xtremes, approx 3000 miles, 39 psi)
