neckarsulm - how in the name of zeus' butthole did you manage to buy a b7 for £12,800 (if you don't mind me asking!).

DONE: Water Meth Injection, Carbon clean at 64k, CAI, Gutted Precats, Non-res x-pipe, H&R 8mm spacers, H&R springs

10k?!? I know v little about the B5... where does all that 10k go??neckarsulm wrote:£45k buys a decent R8 today
I'd forgotten how quick they are, mines an MRC stage 1 with Milltek, 100 plus is mentalTimDogg wrote:I'm also thinking of a B5 RS4 because of Chris' vid! (aswell as the B7!)
B7 felt quicker than 996 C4S and B5 feels quicker than both (put together)
However plenty need £10k worth of work

Re: UK's lowest mileage RS4 B7?
OK maybe a little harsh but there will be a car out there that needs a fair bit of workstu wrote:10k?!? I know v little about the B5... where does all that 10k go??
Camshafts/followers/cam chain tensioners/cambelt - I have a bill for £4500 from last year which also included an oil cooler as the pipes rust (sound familiar?) and some other bits
Brakes, like B7 £1k plus for just the parts
PAS pumps £500
I'd say approx £1k of bodywork on average, a lot of cracked bumpers so a new bumper alone is £800 IIRC, excessive stone chipping, scuffed sill covers, poor previous repairs, rust at back lower corner of front arches, rust on tailgate trim panel often spreads to tailgate etc etc
Wheel refurb and or buckled wheels - it's £4k to replace a set with tyres (hence why there is one onm Autotrader with TT spec replicas and spacers),
loads need tyres as they don't have a good make with 94Y rating so £1k
Original exhausts will be past it by now so £1k for Milltek
Clutch and flywheels £800 +
Gearbox fixes (weak point) - £1k +
Worn carpets by dead pedal - smart repair is best option at £80, new carpet is much more!
It had done 109k miles but Tony it wasn't cheap as I couldn't make a bean on it and it's my job to.TonyHayers wrote:neckarsulm - how in the name of zeus' butthole did you manage to buy a b7 for £12,800 (if you don't mind me asking!).
The next owner got a better deal as anyone who knows the cost of a pair of genuine aux rads will have worked out as just that job would have closed the gap between the £12800 and the £14000 I sold it for. All the other work would add a fair chunk too.
And it was a good one, didn't need any bodywork (nor had it ever had any) or any major other work, brakes and tyres were nearly new, windscreen was new, back boxes still had stickers on them from replacement, DRC was OK
From this post you can conclude it's not an easy way to make money selling these cars and you'd be right, while I love them I think they are best kept as a hobby.

What a small world, I have found a post where someone is trying to contact Lucas who used to work at MRC and his email address relates to the dealer selling this RS4!
PS other B5 RS4 bills are blown Bose speakers and knackered DIS pixels

I'd have even had your R8 in px!
(is there a thread where you talk about time with your R8 as I am seriously tempted, at least for a few weeks)
There will be more (not from me though)
There is one for £16490 with 100k miles, I very much doubt he'll get that.

I sold my R8 for £42.5k 2months ago!
I'm not interested in any other cheapo RS 4's but would have taken yours for 14k as I trusted it was a good'un and a genuine honest seller.
Too many dodgy ones out there, both cars and sellers

Re: UK's lowest mileage RS4 B7?
Wow - Sorry & as much as it pains me to say so as a B7 RS4 Avant owner, we haven't exactly seen B5 RS cars setting the world alight in the retained value stakes and I have no reason to believe that the B7 model will be any different.
Been there seen that - got the tee-shirt.
Lancia Delta Integrale EVO 1- gone on.
Seen it happen with all the Scooby/Lancer rally cars as well.
Very, very few cars are impervious to the ravages of depreciation.
Car dealers never get sentimental.
The B7 will be no different.

Re: UK's lowest mileage RS4 B7?
B5 values aren't too bad , £15.5k for an 11 year old car that was £40k new definitely shows potential.
Having said that most for sale either have been reduced or need to be to sell.
130K & Green? Brilliant
Re the 7k one, if you buy the one from 4 star classics with 4k miles for £45k and then do 3k miles, you've blown £14k and that's for a private sale, px will presumably be less.

Re: UK's lowest mileage RS4 B7?
Do you all think that it has only the 2.7k miles but look at the drivers seat looks a wee bit crushed to me for so little miles?
Just my thoughts?
